The coffee we serve at Cornerstone does more than taste good ☕️

It comes from Redemption Roasters | Reducing reoffending through coffee, a social enterprise working to reduce reoffending through training, support and employment.

We’re really proud to use their coffee and share what they stand for:

→ 142 people trained in prison coffee programmes in 2025
→ 25 training courses delivered inside prisons
→ 42 people employed across their coffee shops
→ 94% stayed in employment beyond 90 days (vs. 42% industry average)
→ 0% known reoffending rate among employed participants

Behind every cup is a model that creates real pathways into work, with caseworkers, training and long-term support built in.

“Recovery is most powerful when we talk and connect with others who are walking the same path.”

Cornerstone exists for exactly that.

A place to sit, have a coffee, and be around people who understand. No pressure, no labels, just space to talk, listen, or simply be.

Whether you’re early in your recovery or further along, connection matters. And it doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes it starts with a conversation over a cup of coffee.

Phil’s story is a reminder of what’s possible through connection, honesty and shared experience.

The only thing better than this café is the mission behind it ☕

Cornerstone was created from a simple belief: everyone deserves a space where they feel safe and welcome. We’re proudly run by , a local charity building a strong, visible recovery community across Essex.

For many people in recovery, everyday social spaces can feel challenging or exclusionary. Sober spaces matter. They offer connection, comfort and community without the pressure of substances.

Cornerstone is a café for everyone. Whether you’re in recovery, supporting someone you love, curious to learn more, or simply looking for a friendly place for a coffee, you’re welcome here. By sharing this space, we reduce stigma and bring people together.

Alongside great coffee, we host events, creative workshops and conversation groups that centre hope and joy. Because recovery isn’t just possible, it can be full of life.

If you believe in spaces that feel different, come and see us. 💛
