The Candlelight Multi Award Winning Destination Pub in the Blackdown Hills Candlelight Inn combines a great deal of usable space with a snug and inviting atmosphere.

There is certainly plenty of space without losing its intimate charm: Exposed stone walls, beamed ceiling and fireplaces and wood burners add character and the gardens are lovely. Enjoy our local ales, beers and fine produce in our restaurant.

After how good the last one was, we couldn’t leave it there. Our last summer hurrah!

This Sunday, Sunset Social Club returns to The Candlelight garden for another Sunday of laid-back soft house, open-fire cooking and seriously good food.

And this time, we’re bringing lobster.

🦞 1/2 CORNISH LOBSTER
Garlic & parsley butter. Pickles. Straight from the grill.

We’ll also be cooking a whole lamb slowly over fire, Asado-style -inspired by sous chef Kyle’s time working in Argentina -alongside Candlelight BBQ favourites and small plates from the grill..

We’re still here 👋🏻

Sorry for the radio silence. We’ve had the most brilliantly busy August.

We’re rounding off our first summer at The Candlelight with another pop-up Sunday in the garden on Sunday 6th September. We’ll be cooking asado lamb, BBQ favourites and small plates from the grill, all accompanied by the sounds of Sunset Social Club.

And, if the forecast is anything to go by, we’ve got a sunny and warm one ahead of us, so it’s shaping up to be the perfect way to round off the summer, as the kids head back to school and normality and routine resume.

Come and spend one last summer Sunday with us.

This year has been a really special one for us, as we took on The Candlelight Inn. It’s been a journey full of hard work, long days, and so much support from our wonderful customers and local community.

If you’ve spent time with us since we’ve been here, you’ll know just how much love, care, and hard graft goes into everything we do – from every plate that leaves the kitchen to every pint poured behind the bar.

We’re still thinking about how epic Sunday was.🌞🪩🍸

Seeing so many people enjoying the garden, great food, slushy cocktails and the brilliant music from Sunset Social Club was exactly what we hoped for.

Our outdoor kitchen and BBQ didn’t stop all day, serving delicious food from lunch right through to the evening, and we even put benches and blankets out at the front to make room for everyone who wanted to join us.

Some of you may or may not know, but Ben and I both worked at The Candlelight long before we ever dreamed of having The Cotley Inn .

Looking around on Sunday reminded us exactly why we wanted the chance to take it on and add that little bit of magic we used to feel when we worked there.

Thank you to everyone who came, ate, drank, danced and made it such a special day. We can’t wait to do it all again soon!

We are busy finalising our preparations for tomorrow’s shindig! We’re expecting lots of you to join us in the garden and encourage you to bring camping chairs & picnic rugs so you can make yourselves at home, in case we run of our furniture!

If you’re local to us in the village and you are able to walk here…(and stumble home) we’d urge you to do to help with car parking please 🙏

We’ll start serving food at 1pm and the lovely Jack from Sunset Social Club will kick off at 2pm to play us through the afternoon!

Join us this Sunday for a long, lazy afternoon in the garden.

We’ll be firing up the grill with all your BBQ favourites, alongside seasonal small plates, while Kyle cooks local lamb Asado-style slowly over the open flame.

Add the laid-back sounds of , a cold drink in hand, and a summer afternoon in the countryside, and you’ve got all the ingredients for the perfect Sunday.

A proper British classic with a bit of history behind it…

Eton mess has been enjoyed for well over a century and is said to have originated at Eton College, where it became a favourite dessert at the school’s annual cricket match. Traditionally made with strawberries, meringue and cream, our version stays true to its roots with English strawberries and local elderflower.

The perfect summer pudding to enjoy in the garden. 🍓

We are so excited for our collaboration with on Sunday 26th July.

Join us for a laid-back afternoon of good food, great drinks and soft house sounds from DJ Sunset Social Club.

We’ll be cooking a whole lamb Asado-style over fire, inspired by our sous chef Kyle’s time spent working in Argentina.

The fire will be going all afternoon, with plenty coming off the grill including freshly baked flatbreads, BBQ Lyme Bay mackerel, huge garlic & chilli prawns, fresh summer salads and all your favourite Candlelight BBQ dishes. (Veggies don’t worry, we’ve got you covered).

David will also be setting up a pop-up cocktail bar in the garden serving frozen margaritas, spritzes and a few other summer favourites to keep you cool while you soak up the music.

There’s no need to book and no tickets to buy – simply turn up, find a spot and let us look after the rest.
