Anatra al Forno: rich, sticky, and not remotely interested in being rushed.

Oven roasted duck leg with dauphinoise potatoes, a red w**e jus with prunes, pancetta, cherry tomatoes and spring onions. The jus does most of the talking. The duck lets it.

Roast dinner energy, minus the washing up.

Linguine ai Gamberoni: the reason some of our regulars stopped reading the menu. 🦐

King prawns in garlic and chilli butter, linguine tossed through a roasted shellfish sauce, with courgette, cherry tomatoes and parsley. Warm, garlicky, and unreasonably good at holding onto the sauce.

The chilli warms you up. The garlic reassures you. The prawns just show off.

“I’m full” is not a fact. It’s a negotiating position. 🍌🥧

The Banoffee Pie at La Campagna Chard: crumbled digestive biscuits, bananas, caramel and vanilla cream, finished with a strawberry on top. Nobody has ever regretted it. Several people have regretted sharing it.

Dessert stomach is real, science is catching up, and the waiter already knows your answer. Italian restaurant in Buckland St Mary, right off the A303 — Somerset’s most convenient bad decision.

🔍 Is it normal to think about a risotto this much? Asking for everyone who’s had the Risotto ai Funghi at La Campagna, Chard.

Roasted wild mushrooms stirred through risotto with garlic and a handful of fresh parsley. Rich, earthy, and quietly vegan — which makes it the dish the whole table can agree on, right before arguing about who ordered best.
