Celebrating World Egg Day today by shining a light on our amazing egg supplier Southview Farm & Plant Nursery 🥚🐣

Southview Farm is a small family run farm located in Corsham, Wiltshire. They have a flock of over 6000 hens which are ALL free range and roam outside until their heart’s content. Which means? DELICIOUS EGGS! Happy Hens equals Happy Eggs! 🐓🐥🐣🥚 although at this time of year, the hens tend to not like the cold and wet (who can blame them aye?) so they live in 7 very spacious hen houses to keep them safe, warm and dry during the colder months! 🍁🍂❄️

You might be thinking… hmmm, 6000 hens, that’s a whole lot of eggs! Yes indeed! And all of their eggs are collected, graded and packed by hand. 🤯 and lovingly delivered to us to enjoy!

As you know, it’s very important to us at The Corn Store Farm Shop & Cafe to support local farmers, produce and local suppliers, so when you’re next visiting us, be sure to add some of these delicious tasting free range eggs to your basket! 💛🌾

We were proud to sponsor the 67th annual Frome Ploughing Match on Tuesday 🚜

Events like this play an important role in connecting people and celebrating rural life, which can at times feel remote or isolated. It was great to see 70 competitors take to the field this year, with the match held on land at Lullington by kind permission of Mr Ashley Down.

Ashley is a founding member of the Frome Ploughing Match, alongside our grandfather, George Welch, and others in 1959 👏

The event celebrates the traditional art and skill of ploughing; a craft that has been practised for hundreds of years, while also bringing the local rural community together, with some competitors travelling to the event from as far as Cornwall and Yorkshire!

A brilliant day celebrating tradition, community and the skills that continue to shape our countryside, all whilst raising money for local charities 🌾
