Although most accounts of the pub's history come from the Victorian era, the Fox alehouse has been recorded at the same site on Coulsdon Common from as far back as 1720. There is no doubt that The Fox has always been the village inn, welcoming guests from the local community then with the same friendly service as we do today.

An extremely proud day for us at the Fox, with the return of our blue plaque. It was originally award in 2007 for use of a linguistic camp between 1952-1954. A special thank you to Royal Air Forces Association and to Mike Hancock President Rafling association (far left) George Bason Chairman Rafling association (middle) and Lee Bryant RAF Linguistic & Wireless operator 1971-1993 (right centre) for organising the Plaque. It was great to meet Ivor Barnett (middle left) a former Student of the linguistic camp and proud moment for our General Manager Ian Mayor (right) who had a great time listening to all their stories.
