We’ve recently invested in a LifeVac anti-choking device for the restaurant as an additional emergency safety measure. 🏥

LifeVac reports that its devices have now helped to save more than 5,000 lives worldwide, and we felt it was important to have one readily available at Sambuca.

This week, we’ll also be carrying out training with our team so everyone understands where it is stored and how it should be used alongside standard choking first-aid procedures.

We hope it’s something we’ll never need—but if anyone nearby is faced with a choking emergency, you are welcome to rush into Sambuca and ask for it. There is someone in the building preparing food for 6 - 8 hours a day when we are closed, and we also have a key accessible across the road in another property. If you require access outside our opening hours, please call or text me on 07817972733.

Unfortunately, the case isn’t suitable for outdoor storage, so it must remain safely inside the restaurant.

Please remember to call 999 immediately during a choking emergency and carry out standard choking first aid first, as this remains the recommended initial response.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us this weekend! 🧡

We celebrated so many birthdays and anniversaries with you, which was wonderful. A special Happy Birthday to Alice who celebrated her 70th with friends. I absolutely love it when the whole restaurant joins in with the celebrations and sing-alongs! 🎉🎶

There are still lots of visitors enjoying their holidays, and we even had the pleasure of welcoming a lovely couple on their honeymoon. Congratulations Jack and Abbie and also Happy Birthday to Jack🥂

As the restaurant remains so busy, our wine bar was used for dining throughout the weekend. However, you can still book the wine bar for drinks only if you fancy a relaxed catch-up with friends. 🍷

Apologies that our takeaway app was switched off between 5.30pm and 7.30pm yesterday. We never want the kitchen to fall behind or the quality of your food to suffer, so carefully balancing our dining and takeaway orders is really important.

More than 120 main courses went out through the hatch yesterday, with Sunday Roasts accounting for around half of them! The roast in the photo is our small (not really small at all with 11 items on it!) Priced at £14.95 it's a bargain! Our Pork Belly Bites were the next biggest favourite—and boy, do I know why! Tender little chunks of naughty deliciousness! Mmmm! 😋

If you missed out on a takeaway last night, the app is back on and ready for your order tonight.

🎄 Our Christmas menus are here! 🎄

Bookings are now open and deposits are being taken for our festive dining, Christmas Party Nights and Christmas Day at Sambuca. ✨

On our Christmas Party Nights, bookings for the Christmas Menu will be prioritised. Dining from our standard menu may become available closer to each date if we have any tables remaining.

🎶 Live music will run for three hours, from 8pm until 11pm, with plenty of time for dancing and festive fun!

Please get in touch to reserve your table and pay your deposit.

As usual, Sambuca will be closed on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day, allowing our hardworking team to enjoy some well-earned time with their families. ❤️

We’re delighted to announce that the fabulous Katie Mac will be joining us as our live vocal artist on Friday 4th & Friday 18th December! 🎶✨

If you’ve seen Katie perform before, you’ll know she brings the perfect mix of energy, personality and great vocals to get a party going — we can’t wait! 🕺💃

And we’d love to add a few more fantastic performers to our Christmas line-up…

What an incredible weekend to round off the Summer holidays! 🥰

With the kids heading back to school this week across England, we just wanted to take a moment to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us over the Summer.

It’s been consistently busy, and we honestly couldn’t be more grateful for every booking, walk-in, takeaway order, recommendation and returning customer. ❤️

Our Sunday Roasts were once again a sell out yesterday. We're so pleased of the word of mouth great reputation our roasts have gained - alot of effort and time goes in to making them the best dish of the day on a Sunday 🤩

🇯🇵🥍 Supporting Scotland’s National Women’s Lacrosse Team

Last month, Sambuca was delighted to sponsor the Scotland National Women’s Lacrosse Team as they travelled to Japan to compete in the International Championships 2026.

At professional level, lacrosse is completely self-funded, with zero government funding, so representing your country comes with a significant financial commitment for the players and their families.

It was an exciting opportunity for us to sponsor the team and be part of their journey to Japan. As part of our sponsorship, we provided their training T-shirts, which they also wore while travelling — giving Sambuca a rather unexpected bit of international exposure along the way! 😍

They certainly looked a stylish bunch with the Sambuca logo proudly displayed on their backs!

There was also a lovely local connection for us, with Anna Hutchison from the team being a local lass and also connected to another fantastic local business that regularly recommends Sambuca to their guests.

We’re incredibly grateful for the support we receive from other local businesses, so being able to give something back and support Anna and the wider team as they embarked on such an important opportunity was something I was particularly chuffed to be involved with.

It’s always nice when local businesses can support local people in achieving something special — and seeing the Sambuca logo travelling all the way to Japan was certainly a bonus! 🇯🇵🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

After a crazy Summer season we'll be taking a break from 29th September to the 8th October. If you're looking for a special dining experience then take a trip to Wee Bits Restaurant in Newton Stewart where Chef Joe showcases his amazing Tasting Menu!

If you can't make this date I can recommend his usual weebits tapas style menu. He also offers full meals and specials. 👌

Christmas & December 🎄

Thank you so much for all the enquiries we've already had about Christmas Day and our December party nights.

Behind the scenes, we've been busy refreshing our current menus while also trying to keep up with the madness of the Summer season!

I'll be turning my attention to the Christmas menus and events next week, after which they'll head off for design. We're hoping to have everything ready to post across Facebook and the website towards the end of next week.

Given the amount of interest we've already had, I fully expect Christmas and December dates to book up quickly.

I know some of you have been in touch a few times, so apologies for the wait — hopefully when you see what we've been working on, you'll agree it was worth it! 🎄🥂
A Little More Visible 👀

On another note, we’ve been responding to some of the recent feedback we’ve received.

We’re very aware that, without a huge name sign out front, we’re not always the easiest place to spot — and we also know that some locals and visitors still don’t realise just how much we have to offer.

So, over the next couple of weeks, we’re going to be putting more of our menu offerings outside, framed along our railings, so you can have a proper look at what we’re cooking before deciding to come in.

Although our evenings have been absolutely chocca, it’s also been pointed out that we may have missed some lunch trade on the occasional Friday and Saturday when things have been steady rather than full.

One of the reasons for this is that we’ve only had our lighter lunch menus on display outside, which certainly hasn’t given a true reflection of everything we offer.

We’re always listening to feedback and looking at little ways we can improve — so thank you to everyone who takes the time to share it with us.
