Better Late Than Never 🐝

I completely missed National Honey Bee Day yesterday! 😳🙈

In my defence…...I was far too busy enjoying a lovely family day out with the granddaughters 🥰

So I’m a day late, but I couldn’t let it pass without sharing this little moment from the apiary.

A romantic dinner for two…..honey bee style 🐝😂

After opening the hive, these two little ladies found themselves a rather delicious feast of broken honeycomb and decided to sit down and enjoy it together.

Just look at the detail in this photo 😍

Those tiny wings, hairy bodies, delicate legs and enormous eyes…..bees really are such remarkable little creatures when you stop and look closely 🐝
And yes, that really is honey they’re tucking into!

✨ What a spectacular evening! ✨

We went to the drone show last night at Ffos Las and honestly…..WOW! 😍

There’s something pretty magical about watching hundreds of little lights come together in the night sky ✨ From rhinos and elephants to meerkats and lions, the sky was incredible! 🦏 🐘 🦁

I really think this should be the new fireworks! 🎆

Look at those wings! 🐝

I spotted this little lady sitting on top of the super just after we’d taken the roof off the hive.

Although she’s not flapping them that much in this video, honey bees can flap their wings up to around 200 times a second! 😲

That’s an incredible 12,000 wing beats every minute from those tiny wings! 🤯

I could watch these little bees all day. 💛

🕯️ One year of hard work has paid off!

On Monday, 5 October, the Pope will receive beekeepers at a private audience. He will meet beekeepers from all over the world, at the initiative of the Slovenian Beekeepers' Association and the European Beekeeping Association. On this occasion, he will also receive a special candle made in Slovenia, in Polzela.

On Saturday, 3 October, a special Holy Mass for all beekeepers will be held at the Borgo Laudato Si’. The Mass will be held by Cardinal Baggio.

According to our information and the publicly available records of the Holy See, there has never before been an official private audience with a Pope dedicated exclusively to beekeepers. This makes the event particularly significant and truly historic.

More information will follow soon, so that you will be able to start organizing participation in your respective countries.

We will present the importance of bees and bee products to the Pope and ask him to do his best to help us raise awareness in the world about the importance of bees and also about the importance of consuming real bee products. We also want to send a message to the world through him - let's buy local honey!
We encourage all beekeeping organizations around the world to organize visits to the Vatican and be part of a unique event...
We look forward to this very special event and to meeting you all in Rome!
