🍔 A little message from your local burger van… 🍔
We know, from the outside, it probably looks pretty straightforward…
Turn up.
Chuck a few burgers on the grill.
Make some bacon rolls.
Take your money.
Go home.
😂😂😂 If only.
What you don’t see is everything that goes on behind the scenes — the shopping, ordering, prepping, cleaning, loading, unloading, stock checking, paperwork, maintenance, fixing things that have decided to break for absolutely no reason and generally trying to fit approximately 94 hours of work into every 24-hour day.
And then there’s actually running the van itself.
We’re working in a burger van, not a fully equipped restaurant kitchen. 😂
We have limited space, limited electric, limited equipment, limited storage and only so many pairs of hands.
Yet somehow, from that little van, we offer a HUGE choice of food — probably more than is sensible if we’re being completely honest. 😂
And we do the absolute best we can with what we’ve got.
There are a lot of things that might look simple from the other side of the hatch, but there are reasons we do things the way we do.
We know our van. We know our equipment. We know what our electric can handle and most days that doesn’t play ball! We know what works in the space we have, and we’re constantly trying to make things work better.
We’re not saying we get everything perfect. Of course we don’t.
We’re saying we’re doing our bloody best.
We work long hours and give it 110%, and a massive amount of thought, effort and work goes into what we do that nobody ever sees. There is honestly so much passion I put into this, it is my pride and joy!
When we’re absolutely rammed and food takes a little longer, it’s not because we don’t care or we’re not trying hard enough.
There are simply limits to what can be cooked, plugged in, stored and physically squeezed into a small burger van at the same time.
And while all of this is going on, I’d love to say I’m doing it with a massive smile on my face…
But anyone who knows me would immediately call bu****it. 😂
I’m not a smiler.
I’m not necessarily miserable.
I’m not necessarily annoyed with you.
Your burger hasn’t personally offended me.
That is literally just my face. 🤣
So next time you’re at a burger van, café, pub, restaurant or takeaway and something isn’t happening quite as quickly or exactly how you expected, just remember there’s probably a whole lot going on behind the scenes that you can’t see.
We’re a little burger van, working with limited space, limited power and limited equipment, while offering a massive menu and trying to keep everybody fed.
We can only work with what we’ve got.
And believe us…
we are giving what we’ve got absolutely everything. 🍔❤️
And if I still look miserable while doing it…
Again. Just my face. 😂🍔
Comments are off on this one — not looking for sympathy or a debate, just wanted to give you a little glimpse of life on our side of the hatch and probably many other small catering businesses doing the best we can in the hardest climate caterers have ever had to work in to survive, everything is against us but we keep going for the passion! 🍔❤️
