Dating back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the commonly known ‘The Old Engine House’ café building was originally a key part of the city’s Victorian fire station. Long before the devise of modern motorised fire engines, the station relied heavily on horse drawn carriages. This specific building acted as the areas smithy the blacksmith's workshop.
While its industrial heritage and original brickwork have been preserved, the place has been transformed into a welcoming, ambient cafe, creating a unique atmosphere where customers can enjoy their coffee and whilst staying in the very spot where local history was made.
