Tomorrow from 5pm!

Perfect timing for you 9 to 5-ers to clock off and leg it straight here. And for everyone else, whatever strange schedule you keep, we’re hoping you can find it in your big hearts to join us!

We’ve put together a nice lil menu of things we quite like for the evening feat. natural wines, craft beers, cocktails and a few nibbles. We’ll still be making all our daytime brews too and there’ll be sweet stuff available, so you absolutely don’t have to be drinking alcohol to come and hang out.

Will has been going through his records and has a stack picked out. We’re really excited about this. So come and hey come back next week when we'll be back with a few new things to eat, drink and listen to.

See you soon x

Our lovely Máire is going to be taking over the walls of mec, programming and working with artists to showcase art on rotation in the shop.

Máire recently graduated in Fine Art and works as a gallery assistant at BayArt. She’s shown her own work in galleries around Wales, including Oriel Canfas and Oriel Myrddin, and was the recipient of the Helen Gregory Memorial Purchase Prize for her degree show work. She’s currently doing a studio residency at Unstable Arts in Roath too and we are so fortunate to have her on the team 👏👏

We’d love to get more local artists and work into the shop, so if you’re a creative who’d like to get involved, or you just have some questions about what we’re doing with the space, pop in on a Saturday or Sunday and have a chat with Máire while you sip on a tasty brew.

Or you can email her at [email protected]

From this Friday we are going to be opening until 10pm every Friday!

Serving natural wines, cocktails, nice beers, lots of non alcoholic options, snacks and ofc coffee.

We'll also be playing some nice records, this first one I'll bring a selection of records that I like to much to leave in the shop... in the coming weeks we will have some friends of the shop bringing their records to be play (if you'd like to get involved in that get in touch)

When we first opened we were open late like this every Thursday and Friday and sadly it didn't prove consistent enough and we had to put a long pause on that kind of thing but after some testing with the Bonne Nuit nights we did at the start of the year we feel a bit more confident that we can make this a sustainable thing..

Now's when I come to you hat in hand and say, please prove us right! we really want to keep doing these evenings and be open as a little neighbourhood bar but we can only do it if we are busy enough to make it work.. so please consider us for your overdue catch up with an old friend, Friday night coffee with your book or even your awkward break up in a strategically public space.

much love,
Will

jazz at mec, kind of an institution at this point.. 2 years? something like that.. pic one Ursula on double bass, picture 2 Sam on drums... not sure who will be playing tomorrow but I'm sure it'll be a vibe.

we've also got a couple of special coffees from our pals at Rins on espresso (house and guest)

come through, and for the love of jazz, tip the band (◠‿・)🎷

Very excited to have new Swansea based roaster Yunara on the shelves and soon in the hoppers. Tim who started Yunara is an industry veteran so we knew we'd be in safe hands. Plus he launched at Cardiff Coffee Festival so it felt even more perfect to be one of the first places to get him in on guest. A few really special coffees, come have a brew and maybe pick up a bag!
