New coffee drop! Papua New Guinea - Goroka Valley. 🇵🇬

THE CUP
☕ Tasting Notes: Clean with good body and medium acidity. Hints of herbal & floral and caramel.
📍 Origin: Papua New Guinea, Goroka Valley
🧼 Process: Washed
🌱 Altitude: 1500-1800 masl.
🌾 Varietal: Typica

From our supplier ⬇️

“Our coffee is sourced from the Eastern Highlands of Papua New Guinea, nestled deep within the valleys of the Goroka region. This area is characterised by small farm holders in remote villages, who produce 95% of the coffee. On average, each farmer cultivates approximately 0.7 hectares of land, contributing to a total production area of 1,435 hectares.

Due to the challenges of road access to nearby towns, farmers typically wash their coffee locally and then sell their parchment to village traders. From there, the coffee is transported to the dry mill for hulling, cleaning, grading, and packaging. Finally, it is shipped out from the capital of the Eastern Province, Lae, which serves as Papua New Guinea’s key port city.”

As an independent, art-loving and slightly quirky coffee shop, we’re packed with creatives on a daily basis (and we have several on our staff as well).

We know first hand that visibility is EVERYTHING for upcoming artists so we decided to team up with some of our favourite local art-makers to celebrate and highlight their incredible work.

Our SECOND artist collaboration is with the wonderful Joey Crow - comic creator and illustrator. .art

In addition to the amazing take away cups, you can also grab a bag of the artist signature blend coffee beans!

Oh, and we’ve left some freebies for you in both our shops as well!

Around 90% of Indonesia’s coffee is grown by smallholders, often on farms averaging just one hectare. Across the country, millions of families depend on coffee as their livelihood. It’s personal, multigenerational and deeply tied to identity.

Our lot comes from the Toraja region in the highlands of Sulawesi - one of the island’s most revered coffee-growing areas.

“Toraja” translates to “people of the upland,” referring to the Indigenous communities who live in the region. The Toraja people have maintained their cultural identity for centuries, expressed through their language and rituals, as well as the iconic tongkonan houses - boat-shaped houses decorated with intricate wood carvings.

Around 90% of Indonesia’s coffee is grown by smallholders, often on farms averaging just one hectare. Across the country, millions of families depend on coffee cultivation. It’s personal. It’s generational. And in Sulawesi, it’s deeply tied to identity.

Coffee here is grown in small home gardens, often tended by families who have cultivated these lands for generations. Production is largely manual — from picking to processing.

Sulawesi coffee has long been considered one of Indonesia’s finest exports — juicy, with notes of rosehip and grapefruit, with a creamy body and a hint of spiciness.

NEW COFFEE DROP! Kenya - Ruchu Farmers Cooperative Society 🇰🇪

☕️A clean and sweet cup with bakers chocolate and black tea notes and a balanced acidity.

Our Ruchu coffee comes from Kandara in Muranga County. Situated at 1,700 meters above sea level, allows for favourable, slow growth. The coffee also benefits from the distinct red, nutrient rich volcanic soil present in these parts of Kenya.

Ruchu coffee is brought to Europe in special 30kg grainpro bags that are from a local brand (Ngirigiri) in Mombasa that has a small workshop based in the heart of a small village, creating local employment for many people in the disabled community.

They believe in empowering their team through work in sustainable fashion. Their workshop manager is a paraplegic who inspires his team through his dedication and his attention to detail.

Ngirigiri has also been supporting the area’s local children to progress through school by encouraging and supporting their education. They believe that the starting blocks of life begin with education and every child should be given the chance to excel to their full potential.

🇻🇳Fan favourite VIETNAM IS BACK IN THE HOUSE!🥳

☕️Well balanced with mild sweet acidity that comes through to a rich chocolatey & nutty flavour & a rich full body.

Absolutely fantastic in a French Press and in a moka pot. Or as the boss says: “it’s an all rounder, all day-er”. We trust the boss! ❤️😎

More about the coffee:

Vietnam has only recently entered the Arabica speciality coffee market and with 95% of Vietnam’s coffee output being Robusta coffee, this Arabica coffee is a rare find.

Grown at an altitude between 1000 – 1600 masl, Lam D**g is renowned for its Arabica coffee production. Stunning views and carved hillsides reveal over 23,000 hectares totally devoted to Arabica plantations.

The capital of the province, Da Lat City, carries memoirs of Indochina and still preserves the colonial charm of an Asiatic-French fusion and is a popular tourist destination. It is located in the Central Highlands region of Vietnam and its economy is based largely on agriculture and apart from coffee, tea and vegetables are the mail agricultural products.

Harvesting of the coffee is done by hand and is labour-intensive. Selective picking is the method used, instead of the strip picking method used for Robusta, where all the cherries, ripe and unripe, are removed from the tree at once.
