The Thomas Tallis Alehouse serves a wide range of beers from the cask, from key keg and in bottles and cans. We offer over 30 beers at any one time. The beer selection will constantly change as we seek new and exciting brews from around the world so don't get too attached to a particular beer! Alongside the beers we have a selection of great wines including from the fabulous Barnsole Vineyard at S

taple, near Ash. We also stock prosecco. Ciders also feature and will be showcasing the excellent cider makers of Kent and further afield. As with the beers the cider selection will change so you can sample the wide range that exists. We do not serve meals but we do sell Kent crisps and peanuts and will add Ashmore cheese and pork pies to the food offer in the near future. You will be assured a warm welcome in The Thomas Tallis but we ask that you do not use your phone to make or receive phone calls. We have no objection to texting, searching the internet or taking photos but a noisy phone will cost you a £1 fine which will be donated to the Pilgrims Hospice. We look forward to your visit and hope you enjoy your experience.

We’re calling it Tasting Tuesday🍺

Tuesday doesn’t have much going for it, does it?

It’s not the start of the week anymore.
It’s nowhere near the weekend.
It doesn’t even get a catchy name like Thirsty Thursday.

So we thought we’d give it one.

Our flights of thirds are perfect if you can’t decide what’s on the beer board, fancy trying something new, or simply want an excuse to sample a few different beers.

Quiz night is back! 🧠🍻

Our July quiz takes place on Wednesday 22nd July, and this month we’ll be raising money for – a fantastic local charity doing incredible work to support people facing homelessness across Kent.

So gather your smartest friends (or the ones who are at least good at guessing), come along for an evening of good beer, friendly competition and fundraising for a brilliant cause.

Lynn Reed. Wonderful customer and family. Sadly lost her battle to cancer on Wednesday 10th June. Her funeral will be at Heresden Catholic Church East View on Wednesday the 8th July at 1.30, with burial at sturry cemetery around 2.30, and a wake and celebration of her life to be held at The Gate Inn at Marshside from 3.30. All that knew her are welcome. And, as a sign of respect we will not open the Tallis on this day. Our thoughts are with all her family 🩷

Today’s weather calls for one thing: something cold in your hand🍺☀️

With temperatures soaring again, we thought we’d show you what’s currently on the beer board. Whether you’re after a refreshing sour, a crisp pale ale, a hoppy IPA, a rich porter or something a little different, we think we’ve got you covered this weekend.

As always, the board changes as beers sell through, so while we’d expect most of these to still be here over the weekend, we can’t make any promises!

If beer isn’t your thing, don’t forget we’ve also got proper cider, wine, gin and plenty of other cold drinks waiting for you too.

It’s going to be an absolute scorcher today, so please make sure you’re looking after yourselves.

Stay hydrated.
Find some shade.
Try not to melt.

And if the thought of cooking a large meal in this weather fills you with dread, may we suggest a cold drink and a few nibbles instead?

We’ve got beer, cider, wine, gin, pork pies, scotch eggs, crisps, nuts and cheese.

Is cheese the ideal food for a day in the mid-30s? Probably not.

Are we still going to eat it? Absolutely.

One of our favourite things about the Tallis is watching people discover it for the first time.

They stop outside, admire the old building, peer through the windows, take a photo next to the famously small front door, and then eventually wander in.

The rest is usually a pint and a story.

Tucked away inside one of Canterbury’s oldest buildings, you’ll find good beer, proper cider, wine, gin, board games, pork pies, scotch eggs, cheese and a pub that’s in no rush whatsoever.

If you’ve never been in before, we’d love to welcome you. If you’re one of our regulars, we’ll see you soon 🍺
