The Foundry was originally a Victorian

iron foundry that produced cast metal items that went all over the

empire, from street lighting in New York to early torpedoes for the

British Navy and most things in between. We take inspiration from the

original foundry founder, William Henry Biggleston, and his company's

ingenuity, originality and entrepreneurial spirit, as well as the stunning

building they left us. We have an extensive menu of traditional pub food and modern

favourites, plus a wide range of beers and ciders, and we regularly host

live music and stand up comedy.

The perfect way to rewind and toast a great weekend — especially Whitstable Harbour Day? A glass of Gamecock Rum from the local Canterbury Brewers & Distillers.

This award‑winner (yes, named after that Gamecock) was crowned World’s Best Hybrid Still Rum at the 2025 World Rum Awards. Every bottle of Gamecock Rum helps support the restoration of this remarkable piece of local maritime history.

But we had to start somewhere, we'll continue with our overview in the coming weeks! We create gin, vodka, rum, moonshine, whisky, one flightjuay doesn't seem enough 😉.

They’ll be back in October, just in time for proper cosy pub season.

Whitstable Maritime’s Harbour Day

Whitstable Maritime

returns on Saturday 15 August 2026, bringing a free, family-friendly celebration of Whitstable’s coastal culture, maritime heritage and harbour community.

Taking place around Whitstable Harbour, the day includes live performances, local stalls, maritime displays, traditional boats, children’s activities, Punch & Judy on the beach, open days at the RNLI Lifeboat Station and National Coastwatch Institution, plus the Barge and Smack Race out in Whitstable Bay.

It’s a brilliant day to celebrate the history, people and stories that make Whitstable so special.

We’re especially proud of our own connection to Whitstable Maritime through the restoration of the historic Gamecock Oyster Yawl — the inspiration behind our Gamecock Rum.

Every bottle of Gamecock Rum helps support the restoration of this remarkable piece of local maritime history.

So if you’re heading down to the harbour on 15 August, have a wonderful day by the sea — and keep an eye out for the story of Gamecock.
