This July, Coffee World Change partnered with Soma Bags in Tanzania to provide 50 solar-powered school bags to children on remote Juma Island in Lake Victoria.

Each bag charges as children walk to school, giving them light to read and do homework after dark- something many families simply don’t have access to.

These hand-crafted bags are made from recycled cement sacks, built to last, and designed to help children keep learning long after the school day ends.

Fifty more children now have the opportunity to study after sunset.

A new coffee is coming 👀

Grown in Peru, this is Tabi - no, not the cat, it’s a coffee!

A regionally grown Arabica variety, Tabi was developed from Typica, Bourbon and the Timor Hybrid, combining great cup quality with resistance to coffee leaf rust.

The coffee is hand-pulped and fermented at farm before being dried and delivered to a central warehouse, where farmers receive feedback on quality and cup score, alongside an immediate price for their coffee.

Access to improved drying facilities means greater control over the final stages of processing, helping to push quality and the price farmers receive, higher year on year.

This June, Coffee World Change we partnered with Artistic Hope Organisation. We provided school bags, school shoes and sandals for 38 children across two orphanages in Mombasa, Kenya.

For many of these children, a new school bag and a pair of shoes that fit mean so much more than just supplies - they mean confidence, dignity and the chance to focus on learning.

We’re incredibly grateful to Mirfat and the team at Artistic Hope Organisation for the amazing work they do every day, and for letting us be a small part of this project. ❤️
