As we know you love the three lions as much as we do, and we are not able to show the World Cup Football, we’ll be closing at 9pm sharp, ready for the quarterfinal match between England & Norway.

Well that’s it from us folks, the keys have been handed over to the guys at Electric Bear Brewing Co

Matt and Kirsty are still there behind the bar looking after you.

We’d like to thank all of you so much for supporting us since we opened almost 5 years ago and embracing craft beer in Calne.

Some folks said we were mad to open a bar in Calne and we’ll just get trouble, even had security companies telling us we’d definitely need bouncers. Glad we ignored all that negativity.

Thanks too to all the staff who have supported us along the way.

And Calne Town Council despite them getting some bad press lately have been the most understanding landlord you could wish for so we have to credit them for supporting us both during our time and with the transaction of this business sale.

Please do support the new owners, some things might be different but it’s still going to be fantastic.

We’ll see you on the other side sometime.

What a lovely way to end our tenure last night with the wonderful Rob Lear Band .

Thanks to them for coming over from the Welsh valleys and thanks to you all for coming along to enjoy them.

Subject to some last minute solicitor stuff we should be completing tomorrow but will put another post out.

Tonight we are definitely closed though.

Like everyone else, we are gutted this is not going ahead.

Events like this are essential for our trade and we do tend to rely on them for a little boost particularly now right at the end of our term as owners.

We are stocked up, it’s a lovely day today and we’d still appreciate seeing you if you were coming in to town centre.

Our outdoor seating will be out as usual and we’ve got super cool air conditioning inside if you’ve had enough of this heat.

It’s (probably) our last ever Saturday although the faces behind the bar will continue. ☹️

Calneval Cancellation Notice

It is with great disappointment that we must announce that this year’s Calneval has been cancelled.

We have not been able to secure the minimum number of marshals required to safely deliver the event. The safety of everyone attending and participating in the carnival is our highest priority, especially with the high temperatures forecast, and without sufficient marshals, we cannot proceed.

This would have left key positions unmarshalled and the event without any security coverage because of the contractor not being able to confirm numbers. We called on a number of local organisations for help and looked into options to keep the day running but safety concerns could not be addressed.

Please note that the teddy bear parachuting at St. Mary’s Church, Clare’s Circus on The Green, and Jennings Funfair will all still be going ahead.

We would like to thank everyone who volunteered, supported the event, and was looking forward to taking part. We understand this news will be disappointing and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.
