Unfortunately due to staffing and other commitments we are unable to open consistently this month on Thursdays for drinks and cake. Therefore, instead of expecting you to remember which Thursdays we would be open, we have decided to just stick to our core days. We will be open our usual times Friday- Monday this month. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

It's Pedal for Parkinsons race morning and they haven't got the best weather for it! We are the first food station on the gold route and most cyclists should be through 9-10, so we will still open to the public from 10 for drinks and cake but wont do food until 12pm. This gives me time to balance all the prep and any potential cleaning due to the rain and 90 cyclists!

See you all later and good luck to all the riders this morning.

Friday 11th September there will be a charity pudding and quiz night with a difference at the tearoom, the difference being that for the first time Kay will be a participant rather than quiz master. For regular tea room quizzers, the format will be the same, but for the first time (and only time) Sue Morris will be setting and asking the questions. This quiz is part of a series of fundraising activities to sponsor Sue to run the London Marathon in 2027. The charity being supported is a really worthwhile charity called Ujamaa Childrens Trust based in Tanzania.

The sponsorship page is http://2027tcslondonmarathon.enthuse.com/pf/sue-morris

Charity Quiz Entry will be a £5 donation to the charity and Kay will be providing a pudding during the quiz to help feed the quiz thinking. There will also be a prize for the winning team.

Please email [email protected] to book your team in, maximum 4 people per team. We look forward to seeing you on Friday 11th September at 7pm.

Happy International Dog Day! You can see the boss is always about the food, even on her days off!

Today seems fitting to thank everyone one who came to the quiz on Friday. We raised £170 for SSPCA and have boxes full of donations, for animals who are still waiting to be as lucky as Kira and all those other lucky rescues who visit the tearoom. Thank you all for kindness and support.

For August, we have amended opening times to account for a few days I need to take off. I don't do this very often and apologise for any inconvenience. Please note the main changes are the tearoom will closed Monday 10th August and Monday 24th August. We wont be opening for drinks and cake on Thursday 6th August or Thursday 13th August. Thank you for your understanding and see you on all of the other days!

We loved how much everyone enthusiastically got on board with taking Brig o' Turk reusable cups on their adventures last year and to see it continue this year. Therefore, we have decided to repeat our photo competition. To take part and have a chance to win some tearoom goodies, all you need to do is take a photo of you using your tearoom cup and post it to Facebook or Instagram. Please remember to tag the tearoom account on whatever social media platform you are using, or to send us the photo directly so we can see your photo and repost it.

There will be prizes for the farthest that one of our cups have travelled away from the tearoom (for 2026) and the most exciting adventures that they may have been taken on (for 2026)! The competition will be open until the end of the season and voting and results will take place at the end of November.

Happy adventuring to you and your cup!

Over the years we have always been complimented for the coffee we have and because of this we swore never to change it. However, this year we did just that! It was a brave move and one I was worried could bite us on the bottom, but in Laurie our coffee man we trust! Laurie has worked with the tearoom for a bit now and knows what makes us tick and what our customers like in terms of coffee. Thus, when he said I have been working on a new coffee which I am confident you will love, why wouldn't you trust him!

The coffee is 'Collido', a vibrant, responsibly sourced,100% Fairtrade organic speciality coffee blend. Collido: To strike together’, ’to collide’, or ’to clash’. It conveys the idea of two or more entities coming into contact and impacting each other. The cupping notes of Collido are:  “Smooth, sweet, brown sugar and molasses with nutty cocoa on the palate layered in grainy cereal aromas.”

So far the feedback on Collido has been very positive and we have been so excited to be the first tearoom on board the Collido journey and thrilled for Laurie that many other cafes are loving it as much as we do. We hope that you continue to enjoy the coffee in the tearoom. We have put the profiles of the coffee beans which are blended together to produce Collido on a blog post, which you can get to through our website.
