Over the years we have always been complimented for the coffee we have and because of this we swore never to change it. However, this year we did just that! It was a brave move and one I was worried could bite us on the bottom, but in Laurie our coffee man we trust! Laurie has worked with the tearoom for a bit now and knows what makes us tick and what our customers like in terms of coffee. Thus, when he said I have been working on a new coffee which I am confident you will love, why wouldn't you trust him!

The coffee is 'Collido', a vibrant, responsibly sourced,100% Fairtrade organic speciality coffee blend. Collido: To strike together’, ’to collide’, or ’to clash’. It conveys the idea of two or more entities coming into contact and impacting each other. The cupping notes of Collido are:  “Smooth, sweet, brown sugar and molasses with nutty cocoa on the palate layered in grainy cereal aromas.”

So far the feedback on Collido has been very positive and we have been so excited to be the first tearoom on board the Collido journey and thrilled for Laurie that many other cafes are loving it as much as we do. We hope that you continue to enjoy the coffee in the tearoom. We have put the profiles of the coffee beans which are blended together to produce Collido on a blog post, which you can get to through our website.

How good does this loaf look? I often give out the recipe for the soda bread (Google Doves Farm vegan soda bread) but I dont often see your baking results! This loaf was sent in by a lovely couple who were staying in the village a couple of weeks ago and kept coming back for the bread (and obviously my great chat!). Thanks for sending in the photo :-) Have you used any recipes given from the tearoom? How did your bake turn out?

Last night we had the pleasure of hosting the Solstice Sounds event, where the talented and wowed the audience with their sets. They also treated us to a delightful collaboration. A huge thanks to Rosi for organising, the musicians for sharing their passion and talent and to all who attended to enjoy the magic of these wonderful musicians.

Last week was a busy one, with various activities happening to mark National Cycling Week 2026. A huge thank you to all who were involved in organising it, those who spoke at the evening event, those who ran sessions and events and to all who attended the various activities. Thank you to all of you for being part of it :-)

We had planned to do daily posts about the routes, services and facilities available to cyclists in the area. This didn't quite happen but I've done a summary on the tearoom blog, for those interested.

You know that the Brig o' Turk Tearoom is a disposable cup free cafe and our customers are fully behind our mission to reduce waste and encourage reuse, one cup at a time! Here are some photo's of our customers' cups. How do you use your Brig o' Turk reusable cup? Do you take it on your travels? Have it with you on your walks?
