6 years since we opened our Porthcawl store.
This little story is all about resilience.

Our shiny counters arrived from Italy on 22nd March 2020.
The UK went into lockdown on 23rd March 2020.

Our beautiful new store , our second baby was due to open in April, but instead it sat as a building site for months, with just Adrian beavering away behind the scenes.

When we finally opened in June 2020, this store SAVED Fablas.

We were all allowed our one daily walk, weren’t we? Somehow, those walks seemed to end up in Porthcawl. It honestly felt like there was no pandemic down there at times just swarms of people enjoying the seafront.

And there we were…….the new kids on the block, with our shiny counters, pink tiles and colourful flavour displays.
This store genuinely saved the business, and we’re not afraid to admit it.

(And yes, everyone warned me those pink glass tiles would discolour in the sun. I didn’t listen. Mum still won’t let me live that one down. 😂)

So here’s to Porthcawl a store we owe so much to, and a team worth their weight in gold.

Thank you for the memories, the support, and six incredible years so far ❤️

Just one more day of this horrible wet, wet drizzly rain and then we’re keeping everything crossed for a whole weekend of uninterrupted sunshine! 🤞🏻

It’s been a painful start to June, felt more like September 🫠 and definitely not the weather we want or need.

So if the sun makes an appearance this weekend, we’d LOVE your support. ❤️
(FYI: although eating ice cream in the rain won’t actually kill you 😉)

All 5 Fablas locations will be open until 6pm, ready to welcome you for an ice cream, a coffee, or a sweet treat.

Mae’s solution? “Take Duckie mummy”
Well, who am I to argue with management? 🤷🏼‍♀️

So off me and ducky went. I spent the entire day carrying a duck around, stopping to take photos like he was on his first big day out. 😂

I’m fairly certain everyone thought I’d finally lost the plot, but a promise is a promise.

Rich joined us in March 2023.
Technically. His first day it was snowing, so we’re still not entirely convinced he actually started that day😂

Here’s what makes Rich tick:
🫐 Favourite flavour: Blueberry Crumble
☕ Favourite coffee: 6oz Flat White
🍰 Favourite cake: Carrot Cake
🍦Favourite shop: Cowbridge

When he’s not at Fablas, you’ll find him chasing his pedigree Suffolk sheep around We’re not sure who’s in charge ….. Rich or the sheep.

Fun fact - Rich can manage a busy shop, solve customer problems, and organise a team… but ask him to get a sheep into the right field and suddenly it’s an all-day event. 😂
