☕🍪 THE STORY BEHIND THE BISCOFF 🍪☕
If you’ve ever enjoyed a coffee or tea at Quench Bar & Kitchen, you’ll know it always comes with a Lotus Biscoff biscuit. It’s a tradition we’ve proudly maintained since opening our doors in October 2006.
But where did it come from? Let founder, Jamie, take up the story.
“Long before Quench existed, my father owned hair salons in Hurstpierpoint, Burgess Hill and Haywards Heath. At Keith of Bond Street (later Keiths, before becoming Pruners Hair & Beauty), every client enjoying a cup of Rombouts filter coffee was served with a Lotus Biscoff biscuit on the side.
As a child, I remember sneaking into the staff kitchen and helping myself to the stash kept in the cupboard. One biscuit quickly became two. Then three. They’re just that moreish! The unique caramelised flavour, subtle spice and satisfying crunch make them impossible to resist.
So when I opened Quench in October 2006, armed with nothing more than an espresso machine, plenty of enthusiasm and a vision for great hospitality, it felt completely natural to continue the tradition I’d grown up with.
Nearly 20 years later, every cappuccino, latte, flat white, espresso, americano and tea is still served with a complimentary Lotus Biscoff biscuit, whether you’re relaxing inside or grabbing your drink to go.
In all my years visiting coffee shops and cafés, I’ve yet to find another venue that offers a free biscuit with every hot drink as standard.
And we haven’t forgotten the hot chocolate lovers either — every hot chocolate comes with a Cadbury’s Flake! 🍫”
Sometimes it’s the little things that make all the difference. Thank you for us keep this tradition alive for almost two decades.
