Pretty much silent on the socials recently but IRL is where it matters and we’ve been doing what we do best:

Retail the slow way.

Whether you’re picking up your favourite cheese, looking for lunch, or simply wanting to feel inspired, we’re here to make shopping feel special again.

For the love of the good stuff.

Entering the second half of the year with big plans for small wins, daily glimmers, and baskets full of this level of love.

Hello to summer / Q3 / the second half.

Remember a few weeks ago when we mentioned we had to close for a few hours one morning in the Bungay deli for some big electrical work?

Well we’re super sorry folks but that work needs completing tomorrow (Tuesday) which means we won’t be open in our usual capacity for the first few hours of the day.

We can use the till across the road in The Edit for any shelf products you may need, but we won’t be able to make coffees and sandwiches or use the scales for weighed deli items until we’re back up and running.

We’re seriously sorry for the disruption and will get back to normal as soon as we can!

Thanks for your understanding, Michelle and the team x

And we can finally all chill (literally) after a week of intense heat… I’m someone who is happiest sub twenty four but am now breathing a sigh of relief when the forecast promises nothing higher than thirty!

Heatwaves for us small retailers can mean a number of things… loss of sales (who wants to leave the house unless it’s absolutely essential?), decision making over whether to close early or keep going (taking into consideration the wellbeing of the team, not revenue), and not to mention the stress of the air con performing (for those who have it), and the CONSTANT monitoring of fridge and freezer temperatures (and many middle of the night panics).

This week is set to be far more sensible and my focus is on the usual admin, ordering for the Q4 (!), and making sure we’re prepped for the next heatwave. Variety is the spice, and all that jazz!

***(NB We were far busier than I anticipated on those intensely hot days; a huge thank you to you all for making the effort and to my brilliant team!)***

For the love of the good stuff.

Tomorrow is set to make us all melt as much as this piece of Baron Bigod! ☀️

Both our Snape and Bungay delis are air conditioned ( 🙏 ) , so whether you’re thriving or merely surviving in this heat we’re open for all your no-cook inspiration.

If we find it gets too hot in the afternoon sun tomorrow, we may close our shop across the road in Bungay - The Edit - a little earlier. (But the deli team will have the keys at the ready to grab you anything you may need from there, eg the rosé!)

In the meantime, my focus is on ordering for C******** which feels completely surreal! 🤯

For the love of the good stuff.

I always love a Saturday stint behind the counter, especially as they’re currently less frequent to allow me to spend time with Rosabella.

Between cutting the cheese and zhuzhing the shelves, I savour the conversations I get to have with those familiar faces from all the deli years I’ve clocked up.

Today’s top three -

“I only came in for one thing, but I’ve been sucked into the Earsham Street Deli vortex!” (A comment from a customer with a very full basket).

“Oh Michelle, I just love The Edit! I’ve just been over there and I want to buy everything!” (Wonderful feedback from a customer who lives in London but always visits us for cheese, quiches and coleslaw when staying in Suffolk).

“You must have one of those mirrors in the loft because you haven’t changed one bit since we moved here!” (Ok this one neither deli related OR accurate. This loyal customer and her family have been shopping with us since I started in 2007 and I’ve seen her children grow up - definitely one of my favourite comments of the day/week/year!).

Cheers folks, you really are the best! x

Reflecting on what has been a huge year; it’s no wonder I’m so tired!

Our new branding is now not-so-new and feels so integral to Earsham Street Deli and who we are that I can’t imagine it being any other way.

For the love of the good stuff.

We hate having to alter our opening hours, but there’s no way around this one folks.

We have some urgent electrical work to be done in the Bungay deli tomorrow (Tuesday) morning which means we won’t be open as normal.

Whilst we can use the till across the road in The Edit for any off the shelf products you may need, we won’t be open for coffee, sandwiches and weighed deli counter products until early afternoon on Tuesday. Plus the lights will be off so we may have to fetch any products for you!

We’re seriously sorry for the disruption and will get up and running as soon as we possibly can.

Thanks for your understanding, Michelle and the team x
