We do loyalty cards differently. Etude at The Silo has a clever little system for logging your purchases and rewarding you accordingly. Buy a coffee and get 1 credit, buy a retail bag of coffee and get 2 credits. Get 10 credits to redeem a free coffee. Wooohooo! It’s all logged using your mobile number, no little card to forget to stamp or leave in your other handbag/manbag. Remember we are open today till 2pm, tomorrow, Saturday & Sunday. See you there.

World Coffee Judge and owner of Etude coffee, Amir is working at The Silo Coffee shop today, quite possibly even making the coffees. This isn’t an everyday occurrence. Great coffee needs great levels of continuity and the best way to monitor that is to actually pull, taste and serve some coffees.

Competition time: To mix things up a bit, this is another concrete monolith 10 years younger than The Silo. Grand, imposing, windy and if you’re a fan of brutalist architecture - beautiful too. In all the excitement of opening we forgot to put up the Etude Coffee sign at The Silo - until today! It turns out Amir was particularly fastidious about this task. This really should come as no surprise to us as it is this same attention to detail that he applies to roasting and making coffees which makes them so fabulously delicious.

Good things come to those who wait*
* If you're visiting Etude at The Silo, you'll have to wait a little less.

This week, we've taken delivery of a La Marzocco Strada espresso machine.
Multi-boiler, two-group head design - but of course you knew that.

It means our dream team, Calum & Anna can deliver the supreme coffees you'd expect, but just quicker during busy times. Their smiles are smiles of relief. Despite today being only our 5th day, the fantastic support we've already received quickly highlighted the previous espresso machine couldn't cope with the demand. This one can.

The weather is our friend. A massive thank you to everyone who came yesterday and this morning. We have been totally overwhelmed by the support and positive feedback. We are open till 3pm today, has his decks going, .coffee is delivering the best coffee around and if you are quick there are still a few baked goods from left too. See you in the sun.

Next time the sun rises we’ll be about to open Etude Coffee at The Silo - perhaps the only cafe in an old grain Silo in England maybe?? (That claim has not been verified). What I can say with certainty is that it’s a very unique space. Despite the building seemingly resisting change at times, it feels at ease with its new look and use. We are genuinely excited to open the doors tomorrow. Let the new era begin. Hope to see you soon. ……. Friday 8am - 2pm. Saturday 9am - 3pm. Sunday 9am - 3pm.

Finally we can announce our official opening!
From Friday 7th July (I know we promised June multiple times) - our doors will be open:

Fridays - 8am till 2pm
Saturdays & Sundays 9am till 3pm

The brutalist interior of The Silo will be the home to Etude Coffee, serving in-house roasted speciality coffee alongside delicious locally-sourced pastries, loose-leaf tea and a selection of soft drinks.
If you don’t already know Etude Coffee you soon will. Amir and his team frankly are the best around. Come and taste for yourself and follow .coffee to learn about how tasting their coffee can be just the start of your coffee journey.

We have power, plumbing, sound system, lights, internet, furniture, clean windows and having an in-house roasters we will never run out of coffee. We are tantalisingly close to having an official open date which as promised will be in June.

Everything with The Silo is about twice as big and as difficult to work on when compared to a ‘normal building’ - this was illustrated today when our on site super carpenter duo Sam and Toddy had to just finish off the windows with a little foam and filler. Job completed with the help of a 6 meter scaff tower and most of the Cooper’s of Bungay stock of filler.
