Our first Christmas at Tellers… 🎄✨

It feels slightly strange talking about Christmas when we’ve only just said goodbye to summer, but our very first festive season at Tellers is getting closer… and we’re rather excited about this one. ❤️

Our Christmas menu is here, created for long lunches, festive dinners, Christmas get-togethers and those annual catch-ups with people you’ve been promising to see all year. 🥂

Expect proper festive food, a few Tellers touches, some rather lovely Christmas cocktails and, of course, plenty of good w**e.

Whether it’s the work Christmas party, a table full of friends, or simply an excuse to get together before the madness of Christmas Day begins, we’d love you to spend a little of Christmas in Bude with us.

And after everything that went into bringing the old bank back to life this year, seeing Tellers dressed for its first Christmas is going to feel pretty special. ✨

Sundays have arrived at Tellers.

Today we’re serving our very first Sunday roast — and this is what’s coming out of the kitchen.

Roast sirloin of West Country beef, roasted pork loin, free-range chicken or our beetroot Wellington, all served with crisp roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, seasonal vegetables and plenty of red w**e gravy.

And because a Sunday roast is made for sharing, there’s cauliflower cheese, pigs in blankets, bacon creamed cabbage and sage & onion stuffing for the middle of the table.

Good food, a bottle of w**e, a long lunch and nowhere else you need to be.

Sunday at Tellers. We think it might become a bit of a ritual.

To book, call 01288 358232 or use the booking link in our bio.

Sunday roasts are coming to Tellers… 🍷

The evenings are drawing in, there’s suddenly a bit of a chill in the air, and we think that means one thing…

It’s time for a proper Sunday roast. ❤️

So, from this Sunday, we’ll be serving ours at Tellers.

Choose from roast sirloin of West Country beef with horseradish cream, roasted pork loin with apple sauce, free-range roasted chicken with lemon & rosemary glaze, or beetroot Wellington — all served with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, seasonal vegetables and plenty of red w**e gravy.

Add cauliflower cheese, pigs in blankets or a little extra Yorkshire pudding if Sunday demands it. 😋

Then settle in, fill your glass with a good red, sip a cocktail (or two), and let us do the cooking.

Because when the weather starts turning, there are few things better than a long, lazy Sunday around the table.

Sunday at Tellers. We think we’re going to like this. ❤️

Tables are now open for this Sunday.

To book, call us on 01288 358232.

Six weeks in… and what a six weeks it’s been! 😅

For months, our updates were all about builders, paint, tiling, dust (so much dust!) and the seemingly endless journey of turning an old bank into Tellers.

Then we opened the doors… and discovered that renovating a restaurant and actually running one are two VERY different things! 😂

The last six weeks have been one enormous learning curve. We’ve listened to all the feedback — the good, the bad and the occasionally brutally honest! Some things we’ve been able to fix almost immediately, others are taking a little longer, and behind the scenes we’ve changed and refined our processes more times than we care to count.

Our biggest challenge in those first few weeks was undoubtedly getting food out of the kitchen quickly enough. Everything at Tellers is cooked from scratch, which naturally takes a little longer, but we knew we needed to get the balance right.

So, the kitchen has been moved around. Then moved around again. And possibly again. 😆 We’ve changed the layout, changed the systems and gradually found our rhythm. This little time-lapse is what it looks like now when service is in full swing.

And — dare we say it — we think we’ve finally nailed it. 🤞🏻😂

There will always be things to improve (we’re pretty sure that’s just restaurant life!), but six weeks in, we’re incredibly proud of how far the whole team has come.

Most importantly, the overwhelming majority of you are leaving Tellers having eaten well, had a few drinks, enjoyed yourselves and wanting to come back. That was exactly what we wanted Tellers to be.

Something tells us there will be plenty more to share as we continue finding our feet. 😆

Thank you to everyone who has joined us for these first six weeks — and particularly those of you who have been patient while we found our feet. ❤️

The renovation might be finished, but the Tellers story is really only just beginning.

Well... after what feels like a lifetime of renovating, decorating, tiling, painting, laughing (and occasionally crying 😂)...

We’re officially OPEN! 🎉❤️

We quietly opened the doors on Monday to give our amazing new team a chance to settle in, find their rhythm and fine-tune all the little things that make a great restaurant.

Of course... Bude being Bude, word has spread rather quickly! 😂

We’re learning every single service, tweaking processes, and getting slicker by the day, so if things take a little longer than you’d expect during these first few weeks, thank you for bearing with us.

One thing that won’t change is this...

❤️ Everything is cooked from scratch.

Good food takes a little time, and we’d love Tellers to be somewhere you can slow down, enjoy a couple of drinks, relax with friends and make an evening of it.

We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve created and can’t wait to welcome you through the doors.

Although... if you can’t find me, there’s a good chance I’ll be in the back... pot washing. 😆

Thank you to everyone who has followed this journey, cheered us on and supported us from day one.

Now... who’s coming to see us? 🍷🍽️

Weekly progress update… and we’re VERY, VERY close! 😳

In fact… people have already started wandering in asking if they can book a table. 😂 We’ll take that as a good sign!

This week has been a BIG one…

✨ Furniture is arriving and tables are finally being built.

✨ The bar is looking incredible. The smoky brown chandeliers are up, the vintage back bar is lit with LED strips and is now just waiting to be filled with booze. 🤣

✨ The black and gold feature wall has completely transformed the bar into the dark, moody space we’d imagined, perfectly contrasting with the bright restaurant.

✨ Bentwood chairs and bar stools are in place, ready for that all-important first pint.

✨ The service area is FINISHED... and that means my last ever tiling job is complete! (Professional tiler status officially retired. 😂)

✨ The glass washer is in and washing glasses... who knew that would make me so happy?

✨ The hallway is finished and I absolutely LOVE the gold signwriting on the loo doors by the incredibly talented .

✨ Even the men’s loo has had a glow-up with a vintage cabinet, black quartz top and new sink.

Standing back today, it finally hit me... the vision I’ve had in my head for so many months has come to life. It feels warm, welcoming and exactly what we’d hoped for.

Now there’s just one thing left...

Opening the doors. 👀

Can anyone guess our opening date? We might just reveal it very soon... 🤫

It always gets worse before it gets better... right? 🤣🤣

We’re definitely entering the “controlled chaos” stage now... and opening day is getting VERY real! 😅

✨ The stunning brass bar top is in... and wow, it’s looking seriously classy.

🍺 The cellar is now fully fitted out, complete with a couple of kegs connected... purely for “testing purposes” of course! 🤣🍻 Let’s just say a few of the tradesmen have been very happy to help with quality control at the end of the day!

🖤 Our dark, moody hallway is really starting to come together with the flooring going down.

🔨 The service area is taking shape beautifully too, with the floor finished and cupboards built.

👨‍🍳 And then... the moment we’ve all been waiting for...

The kitchen equipment has started arriving! There’s still more to come, but suddenly it doesn’t feel like a building site anymore... it actually feels like a restaurant.

We’re currently surviving on coffee, adrenaline and the occasional laugh, pulling 18-hour days and running on very little sleep... 🤣

What could possibly go wrong? 😅

(Please don’t answer that... 😂)

We’re getting so close now and honestly, we can’t wait to welcome you all through the doors. Every long day is going to be worth it.

Who’s excited to see the finished result? ❤️

Well… this feels like a BIG moment 😳🙌

THE SIGN IS UP!

And honestly… it looks absolutely incredible. Huge shout out to who has done such an amazing job — especially when the sunshine hits it and it starts to glisten ✨

For anyone passing by:

✨ Tellers on the Shute proudly across the main sign (no apostrophe 🤣 don’t come for us, grammar police)✨ Tellers above the front door✨ No. 2 The Strand above the corner window

And Josh has also hand-painted the windows with:

🍴 Proper Food🍷 Local Drinks🥃 Good Spirits

Which pretty much sums us up perfectly.

It’s funny because for months we’ve been staring at dust, plaster, cables, and endless to-do lists… and now suddenly there’s an actual sign on the building.

Like… people are genuinely going to come here soon 😅

Only a few weeks until opening now… no pressure then 😂

09/06/2026

Weekly progress update… because somehow we’re now only a few weeks away from opening 😳🤣

And whilst the to-do list still feels mildly terrifying… we are making BIG progress.

✨ Accessible toilet fitted out — just a few wires hanging from the wall waiting for someone (not me) to attach mysterious important things to.

✨ The cellar/vault fit-out has begun — soft drinks dispenser is in, and the python now runs all the way around the back of the bar to the dispensing gun. (Still sounds like we’re keeping an actual snake down there 🐍😂)

✨ Service area decorated — and a little detail I LOVE… we used wallpaper we found on the original bank ceiling to bring some of the building’s history back into the space ❤️

✨ Floors all prepped and being laid this week

✨ Upstairs above the kitchen — floors went down today 🙌

Honestly, it’s the small things getting me excited now too… door handles, bannisters, light fittings. Who even am I?! 🤣

And yes, we are also having a very hard life testing all the drink samples being dropped off. Tough job, but someone has to do it 🍸😉

Getting close now… VERY close.
