From Bude to Beyond…
Many of you may not know that Safe Serve Flags, the visual allergy management system now being used by hospitality businesses across the South West and beyond was born right here at Rosie’s Kitchen in Bude.
The idea came from our own experiences running a busy hospitality business and wanting a simple, visual way to help reduce allergy risk and improve communication between customers, front of house teams and the kitchen.
What started here in Bude is now growing far beyond Cornwall with increasing support from hospitality operators, wholesalers and organisations working to improve allergy awareness.
But before we look further afield, we want to start at home.
We want to:
🏆 Make Bude the UK's first Allergy Safe Town.
Food allergies affect an estimated 2.4 million people across the UK. For many allergy families, eating out can be stressful and filled with uncertainty. We believe Bude has an opportunity to become a destination where allergy sufferers can visit, dine and enjoy their experience with greater confidence.
No competition here, this is all about collaboration.
With local cafes, restaurants, pubs, hotels, coffee shops and catering businesses working together to help people with allergies feel more confident when dining out in our town.
With the busy summer season ahead, thousands of visitors will be choosing where to eat and drink. For families living with food allergies, confidence and clear communication can make all the difference.
Imagine if Bude became known not only for its beautiful coastline, beaches, and amazing hospitality but also as a town leading the way in allergy awareness and safer dining experiences…!
Our long term vision is even bigger. We want Safe Serve Flags to become the recognised national standard for allergy management in hospitality, helping businesses across the UK create safer dining experiences for their customers.
And we would love our local Bude businesses to be part of that from the beginning.
