🍯 Meet the Maker: Hartland Honey 🍯

Meet Alan, the beekeeper behind Hartland Honey. After spending many years farming, Alan swapped fields for hives and has now been keeping bees for over 20 years.

Today he looks after around 40 hives, each home to an incredible 40,000 to 50,000 bees working together to produce delicious, natural honey, never pasteurised. Every jar comes from hives around Hartland, meaning the honey is truly local, with the flavour reflecting the beautiful countryside around Hartland.

With decades of experience and a real passion for beekeeping, Alan takes great pride in producing high-quality honey straight from hive to jar. Be sure to stop by and say hello, and treat yourself to some truly local Hartland Honey!

Also candles and wax melts made from the bees wax, which smell absolutely delicious when melted.

Meet Tracyann, the artist behind IzzyB Creates

Macramé has been part of my life since I first learned the craft at school in the mid-1970s. What began as a childhood skill soon became a lifelong passion. After many years working as a nail technician, I rediscovered my love of knotting during the COVID-19 lockdowns, when my salon was forced to close. Returning to macramé reminded me just how much I loved the creativity and satisfaction of making something entirely by hand.

Today, I create a diverse range of contemporary macramé, from intricate jewellery made with the finest cords to striking wall art and large-scale pieces. One of my favourite makes to date is a one-metre-wide macramé elephant, which perfectly reflects my love of taking on creative challenges. If you can imagine it, I’ll happily explore how to bring it to life in cord.

Sustainability is at the heart of my work, and wherever possible I use recycled and environmentally friendly fibres. Every piece is handcrafted with care, patience and attention to detail, making each one unique.

Based in the beautiful North Cornwall village of Week St Mary, I create under the name IzzyB Creates, drawing inspiration from the stunning coastline and countryside that surrounds me.

Alongside creating bespoke macramé, I enjoy sharing the craft through demonstrations and workshops.

Hi, I'm Tamsin, the maker behind Tamsin's Glass I've been creating fused glass for a number of years now, and what started as a hobby quickly became a real passion. I love experimenting with colour, texture and light to create pieces that are both beautiful and practical.

Every item is individually designed, hand-cut and kiln-fired, making each piece unique. I take inspiration from nature, the coast, and the vibrant colours that glass can produce, creating everything from decorative art and home décor to gifts and seasonal pieces.

One of the things I love most about fused glass is that no two firings are ever exactly the same, so every creation has its own character. Whether you're looking for a thoughtful gift or something special for your own home, I'd love to help you find the perfect piece.

Come and say hello at my stall, have a browse, and feel free to ask me about the process. I always enjoy chatting about glass and sharing how each piece is made. I look forward to seeing you.

Crackington Cider Company

Producers of artisan, small batch, award winning Cornish ciders

Home of the Taste of the West Champion Cider for 2022.

Jonathon and Samantha started the Crackington Cider Co. from their home in Cornwall in 2011, located in an area of outstanding natural beauty, less than a mile from Crackington Haven, with its beautiful beach, and welcoming cafes and pub.

It all started with a gift of 30 cider apple trees from Jon's Dad, Eddie. The orchard now has over 1100 cider apple trees. Jon has focused on the conservation of Cornish and vintage quality West Country cider apples, many of which he grafted from cuttings due to their rarity. To ensure a perfect balance of sweet, bittersweet, sharp and bitter sharp apples, 30 varieties of cider apples are grown including Rattler, Lord of the Isles, Captain Broad, Collogett Pippin and Dabinett. We never use chemicals or pesticides on the orchard to promote biodiversity and improve soil quality. As a consequence we have also seen a huge increase in bird populations and varieties. Apples are pressed, fermented and bottled in the Cidery.. The ciders are slow matured in stainless steel fermentation vats for 9-12 months to develop a full clean character, with speciality ciders such as our sparkling Tremayna and award winning barrel aged ciders aged for at least a further 9 months. All of our ciders are vegan and gluten free.

We care deeply about the environment and do not use any pesticides on the orchard. We manage the grass in the orchard to encourage wild flowers, bees and butterflies by only mowing twice a year. This has also had a positive impact on the numbers and varieties of birds in the orchard.
