It’s been a challenging growing season with extremely hot temperatures and very little rain. But the polytunnel is still full of incredible produce thanks to the skill of Penny, Kate & team.

Have a virtual stroll with us and see what’s growing. 🙌

Please help yourself to some globe artichokes if you are visiting us. Riverford founder Guy had a bumper crop that got a little stressed by the heat.

We don’t want them to go to waste so they are freely available to anyone who will make good use of them.

Tree spinach has self seeded and pops up in lots of places in the polytunnel, we leave pockets of it as it’s beautiful, tasty and also highly nutritious. Grower Kate Hyde has a little nibble every time she walks past. 🌱

It’s sometimes served up in the restaurant too. Related to quinoa and standard spinach, the leaves are packed with protein and rich in Vitamins A, C and K.

Tree spinach does also contain saponins and oxalic acid, so shouldn’t be consumed in huge amounts.

Who says aubergines have to have all the baba ganoush fun?

We served a courgette version on the lunch menu today, and it works so beautifully. Just as smoky and full flavoured but a little more green.

This was one of the starters served along side sourdough, roast carrots with zhoug and a hospital cabbage, apricot, mint and cumin slaw. 👌

Last night we welcomed Itamar Srulovich and Sarit Packer of Honey & Co. to the Field Kitchen for a beautiful feast on what turned out to be an absolutely scorcher of an evening☀️

The food was incredible, colourful plates, fresh, vibrant flavours and of course a warm, relaxed and joyful atmosphere. Thanks to all who came and feasted with us despite the heat.

The menu was inspired by their new book Honey & Co. Daily, full of relaxed, wholesome, everyday recipes inspired by the menu they serve in their London bakery-café-restaurant, Honey & Co. Daily. Think generous, seasonal plates that look sensational but don’t take all day to make.

Thank you so much Itamar and Sarit, it was such a pleasure to have you here and cook with you!
