✨Chris has decided to do a little volunteering at the cafe during a break he is having from his very stressful job. His job doesn’t provide much social interaction so he is using the cafe to boost his confidence and stop him becoming socially isolated. During his short time with us I can see a tangible difference , he is coming out of his shell and it’s a pleasure to see. He is now A highly valued member of our team. ❤️

🍰Last week he decided to do some baking and he was very proud of his coffee and walnut cake - As was I
Come in and grab a piece before it’s all gone !

🐱This lovely kitty appeared on the car park at the back of the Bistro today today.

🐈Although it seemed relatively healthy it was incredibly vocal and hasn’t been seen there before!

If anyone recognises her or him they were last seen on the car park behind the bistro😊

🎶I am yet again floored by the kindness of others. It seems the community understand the importance of our little bistro as much as all from St Basils.
We have an incalculable impact it on the local community. We are far more than your average coffee shop.

Our success largely depends on people’s donations - whether that be their time or items that they think could help us give something back to the community they are A part of.

❤️I met three very kindhearted people today who I now consider great friends of the bistro. Gareth who donated the piano wanted it to go somewhere it will be loved by the community and Steve, along with his son Jamie helped us transport the piano. Moving it was far harder than I expected it’s A very good job Steve is half giant ! 💪

✨I was taken aback by the amount of folks who offered to help, I would like to thank everyone who offered their time and vans - the world has far more good people than bad, I’m convinced of it.
Both Gareth and the guys from leaky blinders refused payment which I think says a lot about their character .🙏

On a final note we obviously have to be conscious of neighbours, this is something I will be contemplating, I’m trying to figure out how to not negatively impact them.😊

Thanks once more❤️ ✌️

🚚We are in need of some assistance 🚚

🎶Somebody has very kindly donated a piano for the bistro with an idea of us perhaps holding a monthly community music group!

We have only one problem - Transportation 🤔

We were wondering whether there was a kindhearted person with a van who could help either tomorrow afternoon or Monday morning - I know it’s rather short notice 🫣!

We would be happy to pay something but being a charity we are on a limited budget.
It’s a relatively short trip, from Breakback Road to the Bistro on Humphrey Avenue.

🤞Can anybody help ? This would be such an asset for the local community !🎹

Thanks in advance 🙏

I thought it worth making people aware that tomorrow the Bistro and the pod will be running a little different to our normal Wednesdays

🚨There will be no 360 drop in as it’s BDHT’s annual conference🚨

Myself and Wayne will be attending Seetecs Job focus day from 11:30 - 2:30, come down and see us at the Seetec office in parkside if you fancy finding more out about what we do and to see the various volunteering opportunities we offer !

We look forward to seeing you there 😊

The Bistro will be open but with a limited menu, this is thanks to a few very kind St basils staff and volunteers stepping up to take the place of the absent team members🙏

Oh and don’t worry - Breakfasts are still on the menu 😉

🔆Operation Blackpool was a resounding success ☀️
Although we didn’t get as many pictures as I’d of liked ( if it wasn’t for Wayne and Chloe we’d have none ) we still collectively took enough to remember what was a joyous day for everyone that went.

I witnessed many people stepping into the unknown and overcoming fears but in my eyes there is one person who really showed how they can prevail in the face of adversity.

Chloe faces many challenges on a daily basis - I shan’t go into details but things have been concerning enough that mom has been worried about her going out for something as simple as this day trip!

Over the past few months I have seen Chloe go from strength to strength, proving she is very very capable of moving towards living A much more independent life - proving the doubters wrong. I know all those who love her are very proud she is making steps to become her own independent person. She has shown maturity and forethought in all of her decisions - I for one am very proud of her .❤️

Wayne and chloe buddied up for the day and I stayed with Liam Aroara Gabe and Tom. We all had the best day - the seaside is the best medicine 😁☀️

☀️Just letting you all know that we are taking full advantage of the sun and going on a day trip to black pool ! 🏖

☀️This means we will be closed both today and tomorrow- today for the trip and tomorrow to recalibrate 🥱😴

We shall be open again on Wednesday feeling hopefully refreshed and with lots of happy memories !!! 😁🔆

🌼Haven’t they done a great job!😁
🌷We are now on the hunt for some flowers to fill the pots🌸
🙏If anyone happened to have any spare plants which the volunteers could plant we would be incredibly grateful 🤞✨

Wayne has been through many transitions over the past few years - most recently he has lost A LOT of weight and moved out of the family home
We are all so proud of him❤️
