Bromborough Pool Café & Shop - Part of Day services at Autism Together Bromborough Pool Café & Shop opened its doors to customers in February 2024.

Owned and managed by registered charity Autism Together, the business is run jointly by our staff teams and the autistic adults our charity supports. The people we support have an active role in all aspects of the running of our café and shop, learning valuable work and life skills through serving customers, preparing food, and more. We are a non-profit organisation, so all proceeds go towards the upkeep of the business and to benefit the people we support. Previous visitors to our cafe will notice our new look menu. We have an extra serving counter, with more space to display cakes and other goodies, while the cafe area feels more open and spacious than before. We also sell daily newspapers and offer a takeout service on food and drink items bought. What's more we're now open even earlier - from 9am to 3.30pm every day of the week! The outdoor service area has undergone a number of changes, with much of the rear garden centre space now set aside for private use by people we support who access our site as part of our Day Services provision. You'll find us at The Green, Birkenhead, Wirral, CH62 4TT. We have a free car park on site too.

Our recent Heritage Open Day tours of Bromborough Pool Village have been featured on the BBC News website! 🥳

Reporter Angela Ferguson joined one of our September tours and also chatted with our tour guide - Autism Together staff member and manager of our Bromborough Pool Cafe - Mike Christiansen!

Our sold-out tours unlocked the hidden history, architecture, and culture of Wirral's first model village - as we took members of the public inside three of the Grade-II listed buildings we own within the historic village. 🏛️

Today is International Coffee Day - a day to celebrate the humble cup of coffee, and the cafes that serve them! ☕🤎

At Autism Together, we manage three different cafes - all open to the public - with people we support helping with all aspects of running the cafes!

Our Bridge Farm site near Ellesmere Port has an onsite community cafe serving delicious food and drink, including coffee of course! The Bridge Farm Cafe is open 11am-2pm, Monday to Friday (CH66 3NE).

We also run the popular Cafe & Kiosk at Port Sunlight River Park. Come and see us Monday to Friday inside the River Park Heritage Centre.

And, of course, we have our Cafe & Shop at the heart of historic Bromborough Pool village. Here you can grab delicious hot and cold food and drinks, afternoon teas, and delicious cakes! We have delicious coffee, too! We're open 9am - 3.30pm every day of the week! (CH62 4TT).

Michael, one of the people we support who works in our Bromborough Pool Café, has been given a very special job and even a snazzy uniform! 👷

Michael loves to help out and has taken up responsibility of ensuring the rubbish is taken out every day, so much so, that our waste management partner Panda have kindly gifted Michael his very own personalised hi-vis. 🧡 Now Michael looks the part whilst helping out!

A big thanks to Panda for the kind gift, helping Michael to feel included and encouraging his interests, and even showing him how the wagon worked. ♻️ As part of the café team in our Day Services, the people we support all have roles and tasks which help them to learn key life skills, gain independence and build social confidence.

Our Bromborough Pool Café is open every day, 9am-3:30pm for hot food and drinks, to eat in or takeaway, and you can find us at Bromborough Pool Village, The Green, CH62 4TT.

We were delighted today to welcome Will Meredith, archivist from the Wirral Archives, to Bromborough Pool Village Café for a special guest speaker event, detailing the hidden history of the village during wartime Britain. 🏛️🗣️

Attendees were fascinated to hear all about the part the village played, contributing to industry and supplies during the first and second world wars, the stories of the village soldiers and how the local community rallied together during a pivotal time in our history.🪖

On Saturday we held the first of our Heritage Open Days tours of Bromborough Pool Village. 🏛️

This event, which we started in 2024, continues to be very popular with the Wirral community, and this year was another sell-out with all tickets snapped up quickly for our Saturday tours.

Led by staff member Mike Christiansen - our resident tour guide and manager of our Cafe - we took a fascinating trip back in time as Mike shared his great knowledge and enthusiasm for the history of Bromborough Pool with us all. 🚶🏻‍➡️

As a special treat for our guests, we opened up the three Grade II-listed buildings owned by Autism Together, which house our Day Services in the week. Our visitors just loved seeing inside these pieces of living history, alongside other fascinating landmarks such as the former Price's Candles factory and the village's old social club. 🔍

We also had a BBC journalist on one of our tours, who is putting together a feature about the event for Radio Merseyside's Drive Show this Wednesday afternoon. Keep an ear out for that!

And don't worry if you didn't manage to book one of our free spaces on the tours - our listed buildings will be open this coming Saturday from 10am until 3pm for self guided tours. Just ask inside Bromborough Pool Cafe & Shop for details and a map of the village. 👍

We've just enjoyed the first of our Heritage Open Days tours of Bromborough Pool Village!

The weather was kind as we enjoyed a stroll through this wonderful model village, while learning about its fascinating history.

Thanks to everyone who came along on the tour, and special thanks to our resident tour guide and Cafe manager Mike Christiansen for sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm with us all.
