The end of an era!
Copperfields Guesthouse has closed its doors to guests for the final time.

Government policy over the last few years has made life as a small business owner as difficult as it could possibly be.

Our guests have all been the very best. We’ve absolutely LOVED hosting you all and will miss seeing you all so regularly, but know that we’ll be meeting up for a little tipple every now and again. 🥰

As sad as we are to be closing the door on this part of our lives, we are super excited for our next chapter 🎉

We are staying in beautiful Broadstairs and looking forward to having more time to enjoy our beautiful town.

A beautiful double rainbow yesterday afternoon, although Maggie was unimpressed. Also the builders have downed tools now the sand mountain is finished again.

As this season slows down I have hand framed a few repro movie posters. They would make ideal Christmas presents. If there is a specific movie poster you would like I can try to source it for you. Three of them are approx 900 mm x 600mm, and £125, and Jaws is approx 1700 x 600mm (huge and stunning) and £180. Contact me if you are interested.

Another lovely walk this morning. That view from the top of Dumpton Gap down to the beach is always gorgeous, but this morning with the sun shining through a cloud it looked stunning.
Then back to do breakfast and tried a new dish. Tomato rings stuffed with the tomato flesh, spring onions, coriander, an egg and flour, topped with mozzarella and served on a toasted bagel. I’ve also done a vegan one with vegan mozzarella and a flax egg. They are gorgeous and the guests loved them.
This is a lovely time to visit Broadstairs, and book a room at Copperfields to be really spoiled.

Finally got round to making a rooftop garden for the shed. Visited Jackie at Youngs Nursery who advised on plants, so grasses, herbs, sedums and semperaverim? bought, and had 640 litres of compost delivered too.
The shed roof is pretty well constructed so I have no concerns about the weight( just as well as I needed another 240 litres of compost)
All planted now, with a deeper section for the Kniphofia and tall grasses, and lots of lovely small bulbs in between. Hopefully the squirrels will give it a chance and next spring and summer it should look fabulous.
Oh, if you book into the Green room you will have the perfect view of it!

If you’ve not seen our Four in a Bed episodes they are on More4 at 2.10 pm onwards this Thursday. We had great fun over the two weeks of filming and thoroughly enjoyed the company of the film crew and the other competitors, especially Massimo Perrulli and Raffaele Perrulli. The whole experience was fun, even having to do everything at least 4 times so it could be filmed from all angles, and the endless interviews.

What a difference a day makes. A misty start to Friday and a beautiful Saturday afternoon on the beach. The Food Festival was fantastic and Broadstairs was so busy. Nice to have some hot sunny weather too, long may it last!
