All the big game build up tonight from 7.30pm..
Devid Piazza is piazzad right off that Italy aren’t in the World Cup, but it won’t stop him banging out a few Brit pop belters in his own inimitable style.. He’s playing from 8pm
The bbq will be fired up from 8pm too..
The outside screen will be on for the game.
Come on England!

Busy night tonight with France v Morocco on at 9pm plus the award winning open-mic night in the music side..

For the big England game on Saturday we have al fresco build up with live music from Devid Piazza from 8pm on the terrace, plus the bbq will be out & we are hoping to have the screen outside if no delays are forecasted.

We’ve hosted so many memorable football tournaments over the years at the Oxford, some of them we’ve been within touching distance of lifting our first major trophy since 1966, some of them we’ve not looked like beating an egg..
Here’s a list of all the tournaments we’ve been a part of with you over the years…

World Cup 2010 South Africa - the single of the tournament was from Shakira, Waka Waka (this time for Africa) under new England manager Fabio Capello, we lost to Germany 4–1, was a tough pill to swallow as it was our biggest defeat at a World Cup

EURO 2012 Under new coach Roy Hodgson we adopted a 4-4-2 system that he persevered with throughout the tournament eventually losing to Italy in quarter finals Ukraine

WORLD CUP Brazil 2014 still Under Roy Hodgson, knocked out in group stage with one point from 3 games

EUROS 2016 - remarkably Still under Roy Hodgson! eliminated in the round of 16 by Iceland, described as the worst humiliation since we were knocked out of the 1950 World Cup by USA. Hodgson resigned straight after..

WORLD CUP 2018 started the tournament under Sam allardyce but he got sacked after one game & Gareth Southgate took over. England lost 2–1 after extra time to Croatia in the semi-finals

EUROS 2020 lost in final to Italy, remembered by the heavy rain & a sea of umbrellas outside the pub for the outside TV (a sketch of the evening is brilliantly captured by local artist Niki Groom & is displayed in a frame in the pub)

WORLD CUP 2022 Quatar England played France in the quarter-finals. We lost 2–1 despite having an opportunity to equalise through a penalty by Kane, and were eliminated.

EUROS 2024, the second euros final in a row under Southgate, before that 1966 was the only final we have reached.
Southgate your the one by atomic kitten was sung many times through the tourney, we eventually lost the final 2–1 to Spain

WORLD CUP 2026 - opinion on our chances is changing like the wind, one minute ‘it’s coming home’ the next ‘we are going home’ after the latest performance in pretty extreme conditions we got a great result & the view by most is it could very well be coming home!

Hope you’ve enjoyed watching the highs & the lows with us over the years & let’s hope this time, more than any other time, we’ll get it right 🙏

Great day yesterday, I made 40 burgers & was left with about 8, so at £10 each we will round that to £400 to Windmill Hill City Farm, will get that to them first thing tomorrow.. (actually there’s a game of football later, maybe not first thing)…

We’re raising money for windmill Hill City farm today as some lowlives robbed & ransacked the reception area again recently..
I’m lighting this beauty at about 4, nice bit of live music from soon after & into the early evening..

A bit of music from around 4pm tomorrow & home made burgers from just after..
All proceeds from the bbq to Windmill Hill Cty Farm who have been broken into for the third time this year with reception vandalised & fundraising money taken..
