FRANKIES ARE BACK FROM TOMORROW

So some good news and bad news, we will start with the good first.

We are making some tweaks to our menu for our final two weeks and bringing back some Old Bookshop favourites as a final hoorah!

Why not today?

Due to some supply chain issues we are unable to run the menu as we would like to today but as of tomorrow we will have frankies, chaat and some snacks in store (did someone say onion bhajiyas 😏).

For tonight we will be running a limited menu of curries and snacks to keep you guys fed. Catch us from 5:30-9:30pm tonight! See you soon 😊

📢 ANNOUNCEMENT 📢

The time has come to leave the Old Bookshop and close up for some much needed rest and time to refocus.

You have until the 30th April to catch us here with our NB classics as well as a few spring friendly changes to the menu next week.

It's also your final chance to indulge in our Biriyani Sunday this coming Sunday!!

CHAAT LIFE

If there is one thing to get excited about when it comes to Indian cuisine, it's chaat. With so many varieties sold on the streets and in restaurants up and down the sub continent it really is the most versatile dish and an absolute joy to eat.

Defined by it's blend of spices, array of textures and carefully balanced flavours it really packs a punch, with each mouthful bringing more to the pallete than the last. Chaat has a playful nature to it, each bite a discovery or a surprise; from the sweet pop of a pomegranate seed, a tingle of spice from the coriander chutney or crunch from gram flour noodles.

At Naasto Baasto we love to showcase these dishes in particular and if you've followed us for a little while you'll know we've had a number of chaat dishes on our menus over the years.

As the seasons change we look forward to bringing you more options but for now we have our Khaman dhokla chaat (pictured) and ofcoure the famous pani puri. Dishes we love to eat and love to share with all of you.

CURRY OF THE WEEK + VALENTINES

We had to get a snap of our curry this week as it's one of our faves. Moni grew up eating this dish nearly every Monday night, with broken up chapatis and lots of yogurt all mixed in to give it that extra tangy hit.

It's our mag nu shaak (pronounced mug noo shack) aka mung bean curry, whole mung beans in a tomato based sauce. This dish has a good punch of spice and the classic Gujju sweet and sourness because we love a sweet and sour twist 😏. We top ours with house pickled onions and coriander and as it's our curry of the week its always served with basmati rice. We also recommend grabbing a naan and maybe some coconut yogurt chutney if you want to try and recreate Moni's masterpiece as decribed above 😅

Available for lunch until 3pm and then again from 17:30-21:30.

Also, if you're still wondering how to spend your Valentines weekend or day we have some exciting news. Our tiffins for two will be back this Saturday! Curry, rice and poppadums for just £20. Also available on Monday and ofcourse Tuesday so bring your honey, your pal or your gal and celebrate with us! If that's not enough we also have an indulgent dessert available on Valentines night so keep your eyes peeled for our menu drop!

SATURDAY

Don't leave your Saturday plans to chance like Pablo the screaming chilli! We are here serving from now straight through to 9:30pm, with our usual menu plus a delicious butternut squash and spinach dal for just £5 with naan! Perfect dish to keep you warm if your heading to later today 😀

FRIDAY FEELING!

It's finally Friday, the weekend is almost here and we are here for it and you!

Our kitchen is open from 12-3pm for those lunchtime deals including £5 for dal of the week and naan. This week we have a comforting, creamy and golden mung dal to keep you warm.

We are back again from 5:30-9:30pm with our evening menu where you can try dishes such as the one pictured. Papdi nu lot - traditional steamed rice flour dumplings, with green chillies, carom & sesame seeds. Served with a drizzle of oil. We also have 4 curries to choose from as well as chaat dishes and snacks perfect for sharing whilst sipping on your favourite drinks!

KHANDA NA RAVAIYA

With the weather so miserable I can't help but crave comfort foods and this new menu item is certainly that (swipe to see our newly updated menu).

Khanda na ravaiya aka shallots stuffed with a spiced gram flour and ground roasted chickpeas in a spicy, aromatic, creamy tomato sauce. We top it with our signature coconut chutney, ground roasted split chickpea and fresh coriander.

This one is on the spicier side to keep your taste buds tingling, it's definitely a winter warmer! So if this is tickling your fancy catch us from 5.30pm-9.30pm. See you soon!

VEGANUARY

Are you pledging to eat a plant based 🌱 diet this month and maybe beyond? We couldn't be happier & we'vetotally got you covered! Our menu is 100% vegan, showcasing our favourite seasonal veg, pulses and Gujju snacks.

We are open straight through to 9:30pm tonight serving up sharing platters, tiffins for two and more. Catch you in a bit!

PLATTERS

Platters have been flying out of the kitchen lately so we are happy to say they are here to stay!

BIRIYANI AND BLOODY MARY'S

It's that time of the week again! Dust away the cobwebs with a spicy Bloody Mary and team it up with our biriyani feast.

Set price of £12.50 per head gets you :
Portion of mixed veg biriyani
Chaas (vegan yogurt based savoury lassi)

Naan

We serve this family style, in the middle of the table for everyone to dig in and enjoy.

CURRY OF THE WEEK

With the weather now taking the inevitable turn as we head into winter we know the best way to warm up is with a delicious bowl of curry and rice.

Our curry this week is made with split lima beans, medium spiced topped with our coconut yogurt chutney and house pickled cucumbers. The unique flavour of the beans is what truly makes this dish special!

Available for lunch (12-3pm) or during evening service (5:30-9:30pm) for just £8.50.
