goodbyes

last year, we left a genuinely awful working environment with nothing in our pockets and a stubborn belief that we could build something of our own. and we did. we built a brand with a clear identity, a menu that reflected our values, and standards we refused to compromise on.

in five months, we didn’t have a single bad review. maybe that’s british politeness, maybe not, we’ll take it.

this has been incredible, brutal, emotional, exhausting, and rewarding all at once. we gave it absolutely everything. but the hard truth is this, for the entire run, we couldn’t pay ourselves a wage. despite doing everything within our control, the things outside of it (rising costs, the cost of living crisis, the wider hospitality crisis, and the seasonal drop moving into winter) made it impossible to sustain ourselves.

we poured every minute of our lives into pie o my. letting it go hurts more than we can properly put into words. but we now need to focus on surviving outside of this company.

this isn’t wrapped in a neat story or false promises. it’s a clean break. maybe pie o my comes back one day in another form. maybe it doesn’t. we don’t know. what we do know is that this is goodbye for now.

our last day of trade will be february 28th. that gives you one last month to eat with us. once, three times, or every single day of february. no judgment here.

thank you. truly. to everyone who followed, shared, supported, showed up, listened, helped, and ate our food. you made this real.

it’s not just pub food.

we’re not throwing frozen burgers and chips in a fryer and giving it a goofy name.

it’s real food. made from real ingredients.

our focaccia, the pasticiatti, the marinara, even the caramelised pecans.. almost everything is handmade.

from raw produce.

the ragu in our lasagna bites simmers for at least sixteen hours. and I think you can taste that.

it’s basically restaurant level cooking, built to run out of a small pub kitchen.

you should come try it.

we’re infinitively grateful for every(!) single(!) person that tried our food, helped us out, was there for us, believed in us or came by and gave us a chance. just so fu**in thankful to have this opportunity.
and it’s just the beginning.
