The Pump House

No one knows exactly how old the pump house is. A stone fireplace bears the initials of Miss Elliot who brought th

e building in 1766, but the cellars date from medieval times. Our name goes back to the early 19th century when the beach was nearer and a wooden hut housed a hand-pump that pumped health giving seawater to Brightons many visitors.
