Now showing at Brighton Rocks until 31st August -

‘Die Darling’ is the title of a solo exhibition at BRIGHTON ROCKS by contemporary artist David G. Taylor BA (Hons), MA - it’s also the artist’s new pseudonym.

“Cursed by common names, I felt it was time to try something a little less anodyne and altogether more memorable,” Darling has said.

The name was inspired by the artist’s obsession with vintage horror, specifically 1965’s British psycho-biddy film ‘Die! Die! My Darling!,’ and draws on his Welsh-English heritage. “Dai” (pronounced “Die” or “Dye”) being the Welsh equivalent of “David”.

Originally from Wirral - Merseyside, Darling relocated to Brighton from London in 2022 having worked there in print and online media as an editor, author and journalist for most of his adult life.

HIS WORK
Darling’s mixed media art draws on influences including punk, pop art, and dadaism. It encompasses creations made digitally, ink drawing, painting, collage, installation, and most recently original songs.

‘Love Hurts’ for example, is a song about his darkly satirical Tarot Series. An ongoing series of artworks in which he imagines individual cards from a deck of ‘The World’s First Truly Truthful Tarot.’ A pack offering unfiltered insights to those foolish enough to ask. Five of these designs were on show earlier this year at Worthing Museum.

THE SHOW
Die Darling, is a solo, retrospective, selling exhibition of framed giclee art prints on archival paper, many being limited editions and signed by the artist.
