I have added something else to the cafe!, on the first floor I have started (name to be finalised) a community book swap area. You can come along a donate a book you have read or finished with, and swap it for another book. I have started this with a small collection of books I have found/read, but donations of any unwanted books would be greatly appreciated so hopefully I can fill the entire shelves to offer a larger variety of you to read. Thank you, and any comments or thoughts greatly appreciated, as this idea landed in my brain at 5am the other morning!! Mark x

This upcoming half term, I have some lovely children’s workshops for your little ones to enjoy😁. On Tuesday, they can make slime!, while on Friday morning they can explore space in a hands-on creative art workshop and Friday afternoon a fabulous comic workshop. We are looking for a new member of the team, as part time manager. Experience essential, and the confidence and ability to be able to run the coffee shop alone, after a period of training, so I can take some time off!! If you are interested please email me your CV, to [email protected].

On the evening of May 16th, Puzzle Bored invites you to a free night of Blood on the Clocktower. The wildly popular social game of lies, deduction, and betrayal.
Beginners and veterans alike are welcome. All you need is your wits (and a convincing poker face).

Your Storyteller (of questionable character) has been found impaled upon the town clocktower. This can only be the work of a demon! This demon walks among you, hidden in plain sight, aided by loyal minions. By day, you’ll debate, accuse, and execute. By night the demon strikes again. Will it be your tonight?

Trust no one. Not your neighbour. Not your closest friend. Not even your grandmother.

Expect an unforgettable evening of bluffing, deception, and dramatic reveals. Lie to your friends and don’t worry, you’ll probably still be friends afterwards.

We’ll run at least two games across the evening (4–8pm). Spaces are limited, so be sure to reserve your spot at www.puzzlebored.co.uk.

I am hosting a fantastic new workshop this May half term, a new Comic Workshop.

Dan Chambers is a Bafta-award winning animator of 20 years, having worked on Peppa Pig, Mr Bean, Tom Gates, Peter Rabbit, Charlie and Lola, Miffy and many more.

After a short intro about comics, with visual examples, you will learn some fun techniques for generating characters, locations and ideas, which he will demonstrate with a super quick comic of my own, then everyone will decide which type of comic they want to do. Dan give feedback, tips, and help, covering basic storytelling, drawing skills, composition and design.

We'll use quality materials and some time-saving shortcuts (working in black and white for the workshop to save on colouring-in time, but that could be a good project for afterwards).

The aim is for your child to finish with a renewed inspiration, boost of confidence in drawing/composition, and a comic that they've made themselves.
