From Massive Attack’s x Tom Waits collab to Naná Rizzini’s adventurous, but very listenable, Epiblast, this week we’ve got an eclectic mix of new releases ! Here are some:

First, the long awaited “Boots On The Ground”, an intriguing meeting of very different musical worlds - Massive Attack’s dark and tense sound paired with brooding electronics and Wait’s weathered vocal presence…

Adventurous, rich and fluid, corto.alto returns with “Some Small Fortune”, pushing his jazz foundations into hip-hop, electronica, soul and indie…

Bastard Jazz’s “Ecology Division” also ones between jazz, soul, electronica, hip-hop and beat-driven music, bringing together producers and musicians from across the globe…

Kasabian returns with their 9th studio album “ACT III” with their signature big hooks and guitars mixed with psychedelic pop, electronics and some pleasing strange detours…

São Paulo born, London-based drummer and producer Naná Rizinni brings Brazilian rhythm into collision with London’s progressive electronic-jazz scene on “Epiblast” ✨

Meet Pedro! He’s one of our fantastic couriers ensuring we get all the records we need every week. And he’s gonna be one of the many directly impacted by the council’s needless red route plan (still time to donate to our legal fund raise btw - link in bio!).

Pedro came in yesterday when I was playing that Tim Maia LP and announced, quite matter of factly, that Tim was his great grandfather’s cousin! And, tell me if I’m wrong, you can see the family resemblance! Too funny…

If we lose our independent high street, we won’t get it back.

This isn’t just about a Red Route. It’s about the future of Western Road and the independent businesses that give it its character.

For shops, cafés, restaurants and small businesses like ours, convenience matters. Customers need to be able to stop and visit, and businesses need to be able to receive regular deliveries safely and efficiently. Make both of those things harder, and the consequences are felt every single day.

What concerns us most is that these real-world impacts on local businesses and the wider community appear not to have been properly considered. Decisions like this don’t just affect traffic; they affect livelihoods, jobs and communities.

And here’s the crucial point: once a Red Route is in place, removing it is exceptionally difficult. If we’re going to influence this decision, the time is now, not after the signs have gone up.

We’re asking everyone who values independent businesses to support the campaign. If you’re able to pledge, please do. Every contribution helps us challenge these proposals and ensure the voices of local businesses and residents are properly heard.

Please share this post and help us protect the future of our high street. ❤️

Some records deserve more than background listening.

Little Simz ‘Sometimes I Might Be Introvert’ is one of those records.

Our Audio Note Listening Room strips everything back to the music, revealing every orchestral flourish, every bass note and every detail in Simz’s extraordinary performance. It’s the closest you’ll get to hearing this record exactly as it was intended.

Lights down. Volume up. No distractions.

Join us. August 12th 18.30-20.00.

Yes THE WESTERN ROAD RED ROUTE…
I only get 3 mins to talk .. I know anyone who knows me knows that was hard, especially even harder for me not to get emotional when taking about this 💞

We are launching legal campaign and if you can help by donating to our crowd justice campaign, that would be amazing 🤩 your support has made very emotional at times, but that’s because you like we care about our small part of Brighton and Hove like we do 💞💞💞

A few more things we have found out as investigating the whole procedure- let’s not forget we first found out about this via !!!

-Insignificant safety stats / dubious improved safety claims Impact on the disabled/carers with very poor research done.
-Questionable claim that bus journey times will be improved
-Displacement of traffic into local residential streets!
-Damage to the High St without any research they state no economic effect on the high street!
- why they’ve not committed more traffic wardens to resolve existing parking issues.
