We just want to say a huge thank you to everyone that has engaged in our story, taken part in the council survey, had your say and got behind us sending much appreciated advice and support! We have seen every single comment, message and engagement and want to let you all know that it hasn’t gone unnoticed, we are so grateful for every single one of you!
The fight most definitely isn’t over, it’s only just getting started, but let’s now hope that the council listen to the people of Brighouse, what they want, need, and how they want their hard earned taxes spending.
Again, we thank and appreciate you all! We will keep everyone updated during this process as that’s what we, unlike the council, feel is morally right.

Devastated owners of a Calderdale fish and chip shop say new bridge plans may mean the demolition of their much-loved business.

We just want to say a HUGE thank you to all of you who have engaged in our story, read all of the plans the council are proposing, got involved and HAD YOUR SAY! Our aim was to spread awareness of these plans, as many hadn’t even heard of them, and showcase the detrimental effects some of these plans may have, not only to our business, but to the many amazing businesses within Brighouse that these plans will negatively effect! We have built the loveliest community within Brighouse, and are so passionate about the success of this town, but we feel the money could be better spent tackling much more important issues, Wakefield Road (the stretch off/before the motorway) being one of the most prominent.
Again we THANK YOU! But WE STILL HAVE TIME, the deadline for the survey is this Sunday the 23rd November, so we urge anyone that hasn’t yet completed the survey to please do so! This is your hard earned money being used in our town, so please have your say in how it is spent!

We need your help❗️❗️

Calderdale council are planning to DEMOLISH The Golden Hind as well as other businesses and peoples homes beside us, to build a new bridge. This bridge will cost millions of pounds of YOUR money, that they are claiming will “improve the traffic flow of Brighouse”. As you can see by the below diagram, the new bridge will solve NOTHING, all it simply is doing is cutting out the corner by the market/millers/Rokt, and instead becoming a straight road from Briggate/Owler ings road (by Aldi), straight into Rastrick. This unfortunately would solve nothing in regards to the traffic issues within Brighouse, yet it would use up such a huge budget of money designed to help Brighouse, and destroy those of us “in the way”.

Those of our customers, staff, friends, family, suppliers, and other local businesses that know us, know how hard we have worked to ensure that this business flourishes, constantly reinvesting, reeducating and striving to improve whilst also prioritising the happiness of our beautiful staff and wonderful customers. This business means EVERYTHING to us, this is where we met as young 15 year olds (we’re now married and owning the amazing business we met at, 10 years later), where we have made friends for life, and met so many amazing people. This business has opened so many doors, and changed our lives in ways you can’t imagine! We truly do put our lives and souls into this business, so for this to be potentially taken away from us is terrifying!
So please help us, and those next to us affected by this and the terrible decision making of the council yet again by filling in the survey. We would really, really appreciate it!

Due to planned maintenance work in our restaurant, we will be closed today, Monday 15th September, (takeaway remains open) in order to carry this out. We will be back open tomorrow, though we are expecting that it may be at the slightly later opening time of 12pm.
