🍕 A slightly less fun post than usual (sorry about that).
We know every other company seems to be talking about rising costs at the moment, and unfortunately we're having to join the club.
A few months, we had to go VAT registered. At the time, we made the decision to keep our prices the same and hoped we could absorb the extra cost ourselves. Unfortunately, after giving it our best shot, it simply isn't sustainable for us long term.
The challenge is that VAT doesn't work quite as simply as it might seem. While businesses in other sectors can often claim a decent amount of VAT back on their costs, most of what we buy is food and ingredients, which are VAT exempt. The result is that a significant portion of every pizza we sell now goes straight to HMRC, with little to claim back.
Because of this, we are unfortunately having to make some changes to our pricing.
This isn't a decision we've taken lightly. We've always worked hard to keep our pizzas as affordable as possible while using great local produce and quality Italian ingredients, and maintaining the quality you've come to expect from us.
To keep our prices as affordable as possible, we have adopted separate pricing for eat in and takeaway. The prices we advertise online will be eat in prices, which are slightly more than takeaway prices.
There is currently a petition calling for VAT on hospitality businesses to be reduced from 20% to 10%. A change like this would make a huge difference to independent businesses like ours, helping us keep prices lower and continue investing in what we do best.
If you'd like to support the hospitality industry, please consider signing the petition here: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/759116
And if VAT is reduced in the future? We'll absolutely review our pricing again.
Thank you, as always, for your support, your orders, and for keeping an independent Brigg business busy. It means more than you know to us ❤️🍕
