🎸❤️ From heartbreak came hope… and from hope came something truly special - The Busketeers!

What started with Billy Spakemon raising funds in memory of his beloved wife Susie has grown into **The Busketeers – Busking For Charity**, supporting local causes and changing lives across the Black Country.

None of this would be possible without a devoted core team, whose passion and dedication keep Busking For Charity alive:

Keith Horsfall – Chairman of Black Country Radio, Xtra, and Gig Caritas; his wisdom and energy are invaluable.
Andy Smith – A steadfast supporter from The Plough to The Crafty Jar and beyond.
Gary James – A masterful host at so many of our events.
John Homer – Always ready to take on any challenge we send his way.
Tim Martin – “Mr. Sunshine” himself, bringing warmth and joy to the streets as we busk side by side.

With the support of Black Country Radio, Black Country Xtra, Gig Caritas, an amazing team of volunteers, and the generosity of the public, every song sung and every coin dropped in the bucket helps make a difference.

💛 It's not just busking… it's family, friendship and community in action. Keep an eye out for their next appearance!

On this day, 6 June 1944, more than 150,000 Allied soldiers landed on the beaches of Normandy in the largest seaborne invasion in history. After years of planning, Operation Overlord marked the beginning of the liberation of Western Europe from N**i occupation.
American, British, Canadian and other Allied forces crossed the English Channel under heavy fire. The fighting was especially fierce on Omaha Beach, where many soldiers were killed before even reaching the shore. Despite the chaos, the Allies secured their beachheads and began pushing inland.
D-Day was not the end of the war, but it was one of its most important turning points. The success of the landings opened a new front in Western Europe and placed N**i Germany under immense pressure from both east and west. Less than a year later, the Third Reich had collapsed.
The courage shown by those who landed in Normandy remains one of the defining stories of the Second World War. Many never made it off the beaches, but their actions helped change the future of Europe
