What an absolutely brilliant day. We would like to give a huge thanks to our lovely and very generous regulars who managed to raise a whopping £937.50 for the Eilidh Brown Appeal during a 4-hour Garyoke session.

Thanks to everyone for attending and taking part, a huge well done to Fiona Morton for winning the coveted Garyoke trophy and commiserations to Johnny Dreczkowski MBE for receiving the b***y prize. Also a special mention to the masked singer - we had no clue who was behind that mask 😂

A huge thank you to Gary Ralston, Johnny and Jim for organising the day and to Kevin Milne for hosting. Gary, you should be so proud of yourself for all you have done during your fundraising efforts and for how you have pushed yourself and constantly thought of others after your diagnosis. We are all so proud of you and you are truly a local legend. Big love. ♥️

Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 the ‘real’ home of football ⚽️ from our friends at Stirling Distillery we will have their World Cup themed whisky 🥃 on sale throughout the tournament. …. Unfortunately we do not have the oldest fitba on display in the The Rising Sun, Bridge of Allan

500 years ago, someone at Stirling Castle lost a football behind a wall.

We found it. We named a whisky after it. We’re not sorry.

To convey the great piece posted by Stirling County RFC. It is with much sadness that we give the sad news of the passing of one of our regulars of The Rising Sun, Bridge of Allan. The Friday back table 5-7pm with Davy and Ray has been a pub fixture as long as we can remember. An absolute gentleman and well know throughout the whole village we would like to pass our condolences to the entire family. Our thoughts are with you all. RIP Kevin Carter 🥃

Christopher Kevin Carter

30th September 1932 - 8th of June 2026

It’s with great sadness to announce that ex-President Kevin Carter passed away on Monday the 8th of June

Kevin was a stalwart of the club. Over the years is roles included Vice president, President and Chairman of Selectors, but ultimately a true supporter of the club and what it stands for. His knowledge of the club and players were second to none.

We have lost another of our great men.

Kevin had a full life, born in Bangor in 1932, he attended Bangor Grammar School where his love of rugby was formed. After school he then played for Bangor RFC.

He was a great lover of sport and was the Irish National diving champion for ten years in the 1950s. He continued to be a member of Bangor Rugby Club as well as Stirling County RFC up until his recent passing.

He married Anita in 1957 and lived in Bangor where his daughter Dawn was born, closely followed by Ross. Kevin and his family moved to Scotland in 1975 and as a lover of rugby in joined Stirling County as a member.

Shortly afterwards Kevin set up Carter Ceilings in 1978 which ultimately became an important sponsor to the club and provided employment for players.

Sadly, Anita developed cancer and died in 1990. Not designed to be a lonely old man, Kevin married Pat in 1992, and Duncan was born in 1993.

His love for the club stood the test of time and he would always be present at functions and games after retiring, still in his seat having a pint recalling stories of old and offering advice when asked.

He lived a long and very full life and did everything on his own terms.

He is survived by second wife Pat, three children (Dawn, Ross, Duncan), five grandchildren (Amy, Katy, Lachlan, Heather and Kirsty) and four great grandchildren (Lauren, Janes, Griff and Vaila).

He was the epitome of a long life, well lived.

The funeral and burial will be held at 1pm on the 23rd of June 2026 at The Logie Kirk, with the purvey held thereafter at Bridgehaugh.

Our thoughts are with the family at this time.
