🎲 WHAT’S ON THIS WEEK AT OUTSIDE THE BOX?

Our September newsletter has just landed in inboxes! 📬 It’s full of what we’ve got planned this month, plus a few new ideas we’ve got bubbling away.

Here’s what’s happening this week:

💬 Wednesday 2nd, 12–3pm – Chatty Café
Our free weekly get-together for games, chats and good company. Come on your own – we’ll make sure you’re included.

📖 Thursday 3rd, 6.30pm – From Eldervale to Everdell
ONLY 2 SPACES LEFT! 🚨
Part of our We Read The Rules So You Don’t Have To series. Think fantasy settings, worker placement and building your own little realm. Everdell (with Bellfaire expansion) is the cosier and more approachable of the two. Dwellings is a bigger, more confrontational experience.

🔤 Friday 4th, 3.30pm – Scrabble Club
Our new weekly Scrabble Club! No need to book – just turn up and join us for a game.

🀄 Friday 4th, 7pm – Mahjong for Beginners
FULLY BOOKED! 🎉
If you’d like to learn Mahjong, keep an eye out for future beginners’ sessions.

🀄 Saturday 5th, 7pm – Mahjong Club
Our regular club for people who already know how to play. Spaces still available if you fancy joining us.

Yesterday we escaped the café for the morning and headed to the Hachette Manchester Games Day! 🎲 Hachette Boardgames UK

Obviously, when we spotted this GIANT MicroMacro map, we had to get a photo in front of it. 🔎🗺️

If you've never played MicroMacro, you spend your time poring over an enormous illustrated city map, following characters, spotting clues and trying to work out exactly what happened. It's basically Where's Wally... but with crimes to solve! 🕵️

We've got both MicroMacro: Crime City and MicroMacro: Kids in our games library – and, as it happens, our ridiculously huge tables are absolutely perfect for spreading those enormous maps out. 😄

So if you've been wondering why on earth a board games café needs such big tables...

This is why! 😂

🎉 What's On This Week at Outside The Box 🎲

How are we already at the last week of the school holidays?! 😮

Make the most of the extra time off and pay a visit to your favourite board games cafe. We've got plenty happening for children, teenagers and grown-ups this week – or you can simply grab a table and choose something from our eclectic games library.

And while the holidays might be coming to an end, something new is just beginning... our new weekly Scrabble Club has started! 🔤 We had our first get-together last week and we'd love to see it grow, so if you enjoy a good word (and occasionally staring at a rack containing nothing but vowels), come and join us!

Here's what's happening this week:

💬 Wednesday
☕ Chatty Café – 12pm–3pm. We guarantee you a warm welcome.

🎨 Thursday
🌀 The Creative Space: Make a Flextangle – 1pm–2.30pm. For ages 6+. Book online.
🐉 Board Game Academy: Wyrmspan – 3pm–5pm. Build your very own dragon sanctuary. Book online.

🎲 Friday
💎 Board Game Academy: Splendor – 3pm–5pm. Collect gems, attract nobles and build your fortune! Book online.
🔤 Scrabble Club – from 3.30pm. No need to book – just turn up and play!
🍔 We Read The Rules So You Don't Have To: Food Chain Magnate – 6.30pm–10pm. Let us tackle the rules so you can concentrate on building your fast-food empire! Book online.
🀄 Mahjong for Beginners – 7pm–9pm. A friendly introduction if you've always fancied learning. Book online.

As always, you don't need to be attending an event to visit us. Come in for a coffee, snacks and a board game – we're always happy to help you find something to play and teach you the rules.

📣 Our NEW Scrabble Club starts TODAY! 🔤

Love Scrabble? Haven’t played for years? Or just fancy a friendly game and some good company?

Come to our new cosy, informal Scrabble Club. We're starting small and we're hoping the word will spread! (or the words will spread!)

You can just turn up and play for our usual gaming fee of £2.50 per hour. We'll seat you at a table. Come on your own or bring a friend. 💛

Have you discovered the joy of a Level 2 Snackbowl combination yet? 🤔

Our Level 2 Snackbowl (£3) lets you choose any two treats from our snack jars in a combined bowl. Most people play it safe... but some like to get a little weird! 😄

This week's highlights included:
🌶️ Wasabi peas + Dino Sours
🍫 Dark chocolate honeycomb + BBQ rice crackers
🍓 Strawberry bonbons + Pretzels

Somehow these all sounded completely wrong... and yet our lovely customers happily munched their way through them!

So, we need to know...
