RESTAURANT MANAGER – THE HOUSE BY HILLY GANT
Braintree, Essex
£37,000–£40,000 basic salary + performance bonus, with total earnings up to £50,000
Full-time | Permanent | 45 hours per week
We are looking for an experienced Restaurant Manager to join The House by Hilly Gant in Braintree.
We are an independent restaurant specialising in modern British food, with a strong focus on quality, locally sourced produce. We have traded since 2015 and proudly hold 2 AA Rosettes, with our second Rosette awarded in 2023.
This is an exciting opportunity for somebody who wants to take real ownership of a restaurant, lead a strong front-of-house team and play an important role in the continued development of the business.
The Role
Working closely with our Head Chef and Directors, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of front of house, guest experience, team performance and key commercial targets.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Leading and developing the front-of-house team
• Delivering consistently excellent, relaxed but polished service
• Recruiting, training, coaching and scheduling the team
• Managing rotas, holidays and payroll information
• Monitoring sales, gross profit, labour costs and wastage
• Managing bookings, covers, private dining and guest relationships
• Handling guest feedback and online reviews professionally
• Working with our wine supplier to develop the drinks offering, improve team knowledge and control margins
• Ensuring licensing, food safety, allergen, health & safety and staff procedures are followed
• Working alongside the Head Chef and Events Co-ordinator on weddings, private events, catering, menu launches and seasonal promotions
About You
We are looking for somebody who has:
• At least 3 years’ experience as a Restaurant Manager or Assistant Manager within a quality independent, fine-dining or Rosette-standard restaurant
• Strong leadership skills and experience developing a team
• A good understanding of GP, labour percentages, rota planning and restaurant performance
• Food Safety Level 2 or above, with strong allergen knowledge
• The right to work in the UK
A Personal Licence, WSET qualification and experience using OpenTable would be advantageous, although training and support can be provided.
