Think crispy roasties, plenty of gravy, all the trimmings and absolutely NO roast potatoes near a fryer! 😂👌

We’ll also have a few of our pub classics available for anyone who doesn’t fancy a roast.

Tables are already filling up, so booking is definitely recommended (but not essential) if you’re planning on joining us! ❤️

As the nights get darker, the temperatures drop and winter starts creeping in, it becomes one of the toughest times of year for little independent pubs like ours.

The heating goes on, the fires start roaring and the lights are on for longer… all while fewer people naturally venture out on those cold, dark evenings. 🍂❄️

So this winter, we’d just like to ask one little thing…

💀😂 YOUR LANDLADY HAS OFFICIALLY GONE A LITTLE BIT MAD… 😂💀

We’d like to introduce you to the newest member of The Bowling Green team! 👋💀

He’s already started work… although so far he’s been absolutely useless. He just sits there all day, doesn’t pull a pint, doesn’t clear a table and certainly doesn’t help in the kitchen. He is also not very good at making conversation. 🙄😂

There is just one problem…

HE NEEDS A NAME! 👀

🍂🔥 THE COLDER MONTHS ARE COMING… WHICH MEANS ONE THING — SUNDAY ROASTS! 🔥🍂

At the moment, our roasts are only served on the last Sunday of each month — but we’re thinking about bringing them back EVERY SUNDAY throughout the colder months. 🥩🥕🥔

But before we do… we want to know if YOU want them! 👇

We’d still keep a few of your favourite pub classics available alongside the roasts, including things like our homemade lasagne & pies.

However, our kitchen is tiny! 😂 On roast Sundays we need every inch of space we can get, so the grill gets covered to create extra prep/plating space and our fryers stay OFF.

Why? Because we absolutely refuse to use the fryer for any part of our Sunday dinners! 🙅‍♀️😂

🥔 Proper roast potatoes
🥕 Proper roasted veg
🍖 Properly cooked meats
🥣 Homemade gravy
🍽️ And all the trimmings!

So unfortunately that means burgers, chips and the rest of our usual fried/grill menu wouldn’t be available on Sundays — but there would still be a few pub classics for anyone who doesn’t fancy a roast.

So… SHOULD WE BRING BACK SUNDAY ROASTS EVERY SUNDAY? 👀

This award means so much to our family and our whole team. After more than 200 years of farming, it’s incredibly special to see the hard work, passion and commitment that goes into our farm and shop recognised in this way.

From our own grass-fed Aberdeen Angus beef and Losehill lamb, Home Reared Pork, to our homemade sausages, bacon, pork pies and all the wonderful local produce we stock - we’re incredibly proud of what we do and where our food comes from 🥩 ❤️

We’d also like to say a huge thank you to everyone who voted for us, supported us and continues to shop with us. Your support means the world to our family.
