When we opened Vio, we made it very clear what we wanted this place to be.
Vio was inspired by the years spent around our Grandma Vittoria’s table — families together, adults talking, laughing, eating and drinking, while the kids played, ran around the house, chased each other, played hide and seek and simply enjoyed being kids.
That feeling is exactly what we wanted to recreate here.
A place where families can come together. Where brothers, sisters, cousins and friends can laugh and enjoy themselves while the grown-ups catch up over a coffee, some simple food or a glass of w**e.
We’re not a restaurant.
We’ve never called ourselves a restaurant, and we’re not trying to be one. We are a family-run coffee shop, kitchen and w**e establishment— it says it in our name: Caffè • Cucina • Vino.
We’re also incredibly lucky to have some fantastic restaurants, bars, cafés and other places to eat and drink in the local area. That was actually part of the reason we wanted Vio to be something a little different rather than trying to replicate what was already being done so well.
We wanted to create our own kind of space — relaxed, informal, family-orientated, dog-friendly and somewhere that feels more like being welcomed into somebody’s home than sitting in a traditional restaurant.
Even our own children are part of Vio. You’ll regularly see them helping collect glasses and dishes, making up pizza boxes or generally getting involved. Family isn’t something we’ve added to the business as an afterthought — it is the reason Vio exists.
And yes, dogs are welcome too. We’ve always wanted Vio to feel like a place where the whole family can come along.
Of course, children should always be supervised and respectful of other customers, and we will always do everything we can to make sure everyone feels comfortable. But there will be children here. Sometimes they’ll laugh loudly. Sometimes they’ll be excited. Sometimes they’ll move around. We’re not going to apologise for being the family-orientated place we always said we would be.
If you’re looking for a quiet, formal restaurant experience, we completely understand that Vio might not be the place for you — and that’s absolutely fine. There are some brilliant places locally that offer exactly that.
But if you want somewhere relaxed, welcoming and full of families, conversation, laughter, dogs, coffee, food and w**e, then you’ll always be welcome in our house.
Our house. Your house. 🇮🇹❤️
