Give back to the Brackley community this Harvest 🌾🌽

Harvest is traditionally a time to celebrate what we have and share with others, and there are plenty of ways to make a difference right here in Brackley.

In your October edition of Life in Brackley, we’re shining a light on two fantastic local initiatives making a difference in our community 💝

🥫 Brackley Food Bank provides essential food and supplies to local individuals and families facing difficult circumstances, relying on donations and support from the community to keep its shelves stocked.

🥕 Brackley Community Larder works with FareShare and Food For Thought to redistribute surplus food that might otherwise go to waste, helping local households save money while making more sustainable choices.

From adding an extra item to your weekly shop to making use of food that might otherwise end up in landfill, there are lots of ways we can all play a part this Harvest.

Did you know Brackley had its own Teddy Boys? 🎶

Back in the 1950s, rock ’n’ roll was sweeping Britain, and Brackley’s young people were embracing the music, fashion and culture that came with it.

In this month’s local history feature, Bernie Tiller from Brackley History Society shares the memories of local Teddy Boy Eddie Turvey, from Saturday night dances at Brackley Town Hall and made-to-measure suits, to the town’s “Top Enders” and “Bottom Enders” 👀

It’s a fascinating glimpse into a very different Brackley and a piece of local history well worth preserving.
