Our mission has always been to bring better coffee to more people. One way that we do this is by enabling people to make better coffee at home.
If you think that that sounds like a way to put ourselves out of business, you’d be wrong. In fact, we have countless customers who started by buying takeaway coffee from us then having attended our workshop they now buy beans from us.
In our two hour Home Barista Skills Workshop we cover how to make the perfect espresso followed by how to texture milk correctly. We talk a little bit about equipment and there’s always something delicious to eat whilst you learn.
We teach on the Sage Appliances UK Barista Express as this is one of the most popular choices for home baristas.

On an almost weekly basis, someone drops by one of our vans with a new product for us to try to see if we’d like to stock it. We love this because primarily it means we get to eat or drink something tasty but it’s also almost always delivered by someone involved in producing that item.
They turn up with passion and enthusiasm about their product and an energy that makes you want to learn more.
Almost every time these products are excellent, but sometimes there’s just not a ‘place’ on our coffee trucks for them. We’re a coffee truck, so our focus is selling coffee and treats that go well with coffee. If the product doesn’t fit with that brief, it’s unlikely we’ll stock it - but we’ll enjoy your product and likely tell others about it. We’ll prioritise local suppliers and products that are uniquely incredible.

Rarely does someone come along with a product that ticks all the boxes. But last week Nicky from Baked at 8 dropped by with the most incredible banana bread. We weren’t looking to stock anything else but with a product this good, we couldn’t resist.
Now in stock in Bushey and Borehamwood is their best selling vegan banana bread alongside their chocolate chip variety and we are VERY excited for you all to try it.

To all those that have dropped something off, thank you! Keep hustling.

As well as operating a coffee truck in Borehamwood, I also live there too. Most days I walk down Furzehill Road and the feeling of seeing someone walk towards me with our iconic blue cups never fails to make me smile inside. But if you visited us recently You may have received your drink in a plain black cup. That’s my fault for not ordering cups in time (sorry).
Today is a good day in the Roaming Roast team as our blue cups have been delivered!
Thanks to Twist Supplies for swift manufacture and delivery (whilst also managing school holidays).

When I was made redundant in 2023, buying a coffee van seemed like an outlandish idea. Then, once I opened Roaming Roast, I never planned to have more than one truck.
Then when I went to talk to Mobile Retail Group t/a about van two, I never planned to get two more at the same time. It was a whim.
Looking back it was risky and money was incredibly tight for a while because in the excitement I hadn’t factored in all of the other things required to get the coffee vans trading.
But we scraped by.
The truth is I am personally earning a lot less now that we have three vans than I was when I had one.
With one van I had no one else to pay and so I took home whatever I earned. In the early days we were also not VAT registered.
Now we have three vehicles and 7 of us working and various times. Add in insurance for 3 vehicles and a place to store them, we’re not ‘raking it in’ as someone said to me today. I wish!
But the enjoyment of standing around drinking coffee and chatting outside all day still makes me feel wealthy in every other way.

Today we have launched our new website and I’m really proud of the work that Sachin has put into this to make it look so incredible.
Admittedly, a website for us is not a critical component of our business currently, but it helps people who have never visited us before find us and book us for events. Now that we have a vehicle dedicated for events it will play a bigger role than ever before.
