It is with a great deal of sadness that we have made the decision to close the Fountain at the end of September. As many of you will know we have tried for nearly 3 years to sell the business in the hope that our vision for a village tearooms in Bonsall could continue, however the quest for new owners has been unsuccessful.
Over the years the costs of running the business – wages, PAYE, pension contributions, food and drink, energy, licences etc have all increased immensely, making the business unsustainable long term, probably deterring potential new owners, and making this decision inevitable.
With a view to Anne being able to step back from the commitment and hard work, daytime and evenings of baking that running the tearooms demands and join Ade in retirement, the tearooms will close on 27th September and be turned back into residential accommodation in the near future.
Personally, Anne would like to thank all of her team members, past and present for making the Fountain the wonderful place it has become, for their unending support and friendship and for putting up with her over the years.
To each and every one of our customers, the words “Thank You “hardly express how grateful we are for your custom and support over the years. Many of you have become close friends as well as familiar welcomed faces, Anne will miss you enormously and looks forward to joining you for a coffee sometime, somewhere.
We plan to remain open up until 27th September, thereafter honouring Bed and Breakfast bookings through October before building work commences in November. Our holiday lets “Cobbles” and “Big Arthur’s” will continue to welcome guests to our lovely village.
A little reminder to anyone with outstanding Gift Vouchers, please ensure they are used before 27th September.
Once again a heartfelt and emotional thanks for the last (nearly) 15 years.
Anne and Ade
