10 years!, yes that’s how long we have been in business. I still remember the first time we traded, on Littlehampton High Street on the Artisan Market where I took the princely sum of £60 and questioned my sanity. Through COVID where we had the Restaurant and ended up shutting it down and going back to mobile catering where we shot off like a rocket. A failed marriage but it bought me another one and have never looked back because Jenny Browning has been nothing but supportive in everything and has put up with way more than she should have done and became a major factor in its growth. We have made so many friends, friends for life that we’re either customers, event organisers or fellow traders and the events have been so much fun, we have loved every minute of it.
An opportunity has now come my way, something I’ve wanted to do for years but thought I may have missed the boat at 57 but it seems not and this has made us think long and hard. The country is not in a great financial place, takings have been dropping, food prices have gone up dramatically as well as gas, fuel, insurances as well as many other costs and the fact that being in the later stages of life it’s harder and harder to do the 18 hour days and how much longer can it be done? We now have the opportunity to enjoy the summer rather than work it, take a step back and enjoy life more and attend events as guests or volunteers to actually spend quality time with the many friends we have (many in the vanlife scene) rather than chat to them over a counter or have a quick beer with late in the evening before getting to bed to be up early the next day.
We now feel that it’s time to step away from catering, have the security of a salary with a company that is very big, and to be able to use the time off to really relax and enjoy life and travel. As the next few months proceed, we won’t be doing any more events catering wise but we will still be involved in their management and will continue with the stage and sound engineering. It’s time to move with the times and maybe do the odd pop up food event just to enjoy it, that’s never off the table.
We will in the next few days rename this page to reflect the events side of things so that you can all keep up to date with what we are doing, and you can always find our adventures on the Hey Amigo On The Road page and YouTube channel.
Thank you to each and everyone one of you that has supported our journey over the years.
Bring on the next chapter!
