Well… I suppose the secret really is out now! 😬
After nearly 20 years of Andersons in Boat of Garten, I’ve somehow decided that one restaurant isn’t enough 😂
Andersons at The Avenue in Grantown is happening.
Excited, slightly terrified, and there’s a ridiculous amount of work to do — but I’m really looking forward to seeing what we can make of this place.
Thanks to everyone who’s supported us over the years. Hopefully you’ll come along for the next chapter too ❤️
See you soon, Grantown!
Well, the secret is out…
After nearly 20 years of Andersons in Boat of Garten, we’re opening a second restaurant.
Andersons at The Avenue – Grantown on Spey.
We’ve taken over The Avenue on Seafield Road and over the next few weeks we’ll be busy turning it into our new restaurant.
The idea is pretty simple – good, honest food, using great local and Scottish produce, in a relaxed restaurant where everyone feels welcome.
A little bit about how we’re going to open…
We’re deliberately starting small. To begin with, The Avenue will open in the evenings with a seasonal à la carte menu, very much centred around the local and Scottish produce we’re lucky enough to have around us.
And because I know it’s probably the first thing many of you are wondering about – we won’t be serving pizzas when we first open.
Pizza has become a huge part of Andersons over the years and we absolutely plan to bring our wood-fired pizzas to Grantown, both sit-in and takeaway. But we need to install a proper wood-fired oven first, and I’d rather wait and do it properly than rush something just because people are expecting it.
Hopefully we’ll introduce the pizza menu after Christmas, and from there continue building things up, with the plan to be serving brunch, lunch and dinner alongside a full takeaway pizza service by Easter.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from nearly 20 years of running Andersons, it’s not to try to do too much too quickly. We’ll open each part gradually, find our feet, get it right, and then move on to the next phase.
There’s a fair bit of work to do before we open the doors, and rather than hide it all until it’s finished, we thought we’d bring you along for the ride.
And while I’m here – I’m looking for a chef.
I’m looking for someone experienced to become my right-hand person at The Avenue. Someone reliable, who can cook to a high standard, loves working with local and seasonal produce and wants to be part of building something from the beginning. If that sounds like you – or you know someone who might fit – please get in touch.
We’ll share plenty more about the food, the restaurant and our opening plans as things start coming together.
See you soon, Grantown!
