Welcome

Whether you've something to celebrate, are at the end of a hard day's walking in the hills, or simply fancy a break from cooking at home, it is our wish at Anderson's that you all feel welcome. Forget pretence, the atmosphere here is relaxed and informal, so sit back, switch off, and savour the pleasure of great food and drink. Local Produce

At Anderson's we are committed to using local

Scottish produce when it is in season, so needless to say, our menu changes each month, along with our daily specials. Each dish is lovingly prepared and bought together in such a way as to bring out the very best of truly great, fresh ingredients. Although our menu is creative, our aim is simple, to present you with food that we are confident you will enjoy, and that tastes fantastic. Family Friendly

The whole family is welcome at Anderson's, and it is important to us that everyone can tuck into something they will enjoy. So for children we can either offer half portions of anything on the menu, or for specific likes or dislikes, please feel comfortable to say, and the chef will be happy to come up with something to suit- within reason! Similarly please make us aware of any special dietary requirements you may have.

“It’s great to see a restaurant like Andersons opening up in Boat of Garten. Owners Steve and Claire have put a huge amount of thought and effort into their set up, and their intended philosophy of utilizing the best of Scottish produce should be a real boost to the local restaurant scene.

Andersons is growing! ❤️

While we carry on doing what we do here in Boat of Garten, we’re busy creating a second Andersons over in Grantown-on-Spey.

Here’s a little look at what we’re working towards at Andersons at The Avenue.

Give the new page a follow and watch it all come together 👀

Well… I suppose the secret really is out now! 😬

After nearly 20 years of Andersons in Boat of Garten, I’ve somehow decided that one restaurant isn’t enough 😂

Andersons at The Avenue in Grantown is happening.

Excited, slightly terrified, and there’s a ridiculous amount of work to do — but I’m really looking forward to seeing what we can make of this place.

Thanks to everyone who’s supported us over the years. Hopefully you’ll come along for the next chapter too ❤️

See you soon, Grantown!

Well, the secret is out…

After nearly 20 years of Andersons in Boat of Garten, we’re opening a second restaurant.

Andersons at The Avenue – Grantown on Spey.

We’ve taken over The Avenue on Seafield Road and over the next few weeks we’ll be busy turning it into our new restaurant.

The idea is pretty simple – good, honest food, using great local and Scottish produce, in a relaxed restaurant where everyone feels welcome.

A little bit about how we’re going to open…

We’re deliberately starting small. To begin with, The Avenue will open in the evenings with a seasonal à la carte menu, very much centred around the local and Scottish produce we’re lucky enough to have around us.

And because I know it’s probably the first thing many of you are wondering about – we won’t be serving pizzas when we first open.

Pizza has become a huge part of Andersons over the years and we absolutely plan to bring our wood-fired pizzas to Grantown, both sit-in and takeaway. But we need to install a proper wood-fired oven first, and I’d rather wait and do it properly than rush something just because people are expecting it.

Hopefully we’ll introduce the pizza menu after Christmas, and from there continue building things up, with the plan to be serving brunch, lunch and dinner alongside a full takeaway pizza service by Easter.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from nearly 20 years of running Andersons, it’s not to try to do too much too quickly. We’ll open each part gradually, find our feet, get it right, and then move on to the next phase.

There’s a fair bit of work to do before we open the doors, and rather than hide it all until it’s finished, we thought we’d bring you along for the ride.

And while I’m here – I’m looking for a chef.

I’m looking for someone experienced to become my right-hand person at The Avenue. Someone reliable, who can cook to a high standard, loves working with local and seasonal produce and wants to be part of building something from the beginning. If that sounds like you – or you know someone who might fit – please get in touch.

We’ll share plenty more about the food, the restaurant and our opening plans as things start coming together.

See you soon, Grantown!

🌲 A Taste of the Cairngorms

One of my favourite ingredients of the year has to be young spruce tips.

For just a few weeks each spring, the fresh bright green tips emerge on our native spruce trees. Their flavour is unlike anything else—fresh, citrusy, with gentle notes of pine and a hint of sherbet.

We hand-pick them here in the Cairngorms before preserving them, allowing us to use them throughout the year.

On our new Summer Menu, they’re infused into our Lemon & Spruce Tip Posset, adding a subtle flavour that captures a little taste of the Highland forest.

It’s amazing how an ingredient growing just a few miles from the restaurant can transform a simple dessert into something that couldn’t be made quite the same anywhere else.

Sometimes the best ingredients are already on our doorstep.

🫐🍄 The Cairngorms are starting to provide…

One of the best parts of summer is seeing the forests come alive again.

This morning’s wander produced the season’s first blaeberries and chanterelles. Not enough to fill the kitchen just yet, but it’s always exciting to see the first signs that they’re on their way.

Nature has its own timetable, and we’ll be making the most of it over the coming weeks as more wild ingredients begin to appear.

It’s one of the reasons we love cooking here in the Highlands.

🐟 Some beautiful produce coming through the kitchen this week.

This stunning Shetland mackerel, freshly delivered by our friends at Pro Fish Services Ltd, is a real highlight.

Beautifully fresh, expertly filleted and packed with flavour, it’s exactly the kind of ingredient we love to cook with. We believe great dishes start with great produce, and that’s why we work with suppliers who care as much about quality as we do.

This is now featuring on our new Summer Menu, simply grilled and served with crushed new potatoes, watercress, and a fresh tomato, black olive & herb dressing.

A huge thank you to the team at Profish for consistently delivering some of the finest seafood in Scotland.
