In 1906 Jack Antonio travelled with his wife from Sora in Italy to Bedlington, setting up a small Ice cream shop in Rigde Terrace. Jack would travel by horse and cart to collect the ice from South Shilelds before making his famous ice cream and cornets in his small factory. Jack was a familiar sight in and around Bedlington and Blyth, indeed customers today can still recall jack blowing a whistle to announce his arrival to their street to buy a 1p lick, 3d cornet or a slider. His great grandson, David, is just as passionate about serving quality ice cream and providing the public with an enjoyable experience from his ice cream van and now the parlour in Jacks’ name sake.
