🥟❤️ What a Day at Birchwood Carnival ❤️🥟
Yesterday was our second year at Birchwood Carnival. Last year we came with Bubble Tea and Bubble Waffles. This year we returned with Japanese Gyoza, and honestly, we had no idea what to expect.
We arrived before 9am to set up, with the parade and carnival officially starting at 12pm. By around 12:15pm, the queue had already started forming and from that point onwards we barely stopped cooking until nearly 4pm.
What surprised us most was how many customers arrived because somebody else had recommended us. Throughout the day we kept hearing things like, "Someone told us to try your gyoza" or "People have been talking about your stall." As a small family business, there really is no better compliment than that.
Another surprise was our best seller. We expected chicken to be the favourite, but yesterday it was our pork gyoza. Time after time we watched people bite into one, discover how juicy it was, then immediately tell their friends. Before long, those friends were joining the queue as well. It felt like the pork gyoza was doing its own marketing. 😂
Despite several sudden rain showers, the crowds never seemed to slow down. Our team was cooking as fast as we could, but demand just kept growing. Many customers weren't ordering a single box either – some orders were for three or four boxes at a time.
One of the highlights came at the end of the day while we were packing away. One of the organisers stopped by for a chat and told us that several visitors had gone out of their way to tell her how much they enjoyed our food. She then smiled and said, "Make sure you keep coming back every year."
That genuinely meant a lot to us.
Thank you Birchwood. Thank you Warrington. Thank you to everyone who queued, recommended us to friends, brought family members over, or simply stopped by to say hello. You turned a rainy carnival into one of our favourite events of the year.
After packing up, we even stayed in Warrington and grabbed dinner from a local independent business. It felt like a small way of saying thank you to a town that has always been so kind to us.
Hopefully we'll see you all again next year. ❤️🥟
