🌧️ The weather might not be giving us much sugar and sunshine yesterday, but our staff and students certainly are! 🍫🍰

The kitchen has been busy baking up a storm with homemade brownies and classic old-school cake fresh from the oven. The rain may be pouring outside, but inside the McIntyre Centre it’s all things sweet, warm, and delicious! ☕✨

Why not pop in, treat yourself to a slice (or two!), and enjoy a cosy coffee break with us? We promise our bakes are much sweeter than the weather forecast! 😋

Kids Eat Free this Half Term! 🍽️

Bring the family along to The McIntyre Centre this half term where kids can eat free with every paying adult. Children can choose from homemade chicken goujons, beans on toast, scrambled eggs on toast or a picnic lunch, making it the perfect family-friendly lunch stop during the holidays.

You’ll find us at 25 Newgate Street, Bishop Auckland, DL14 7EP, and we’re open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am until 4pm.

This half term, kids can eat FREE at McIntyre with every paying adult meal! 🥪

From homemade chicken goujons and chips to picnic lunches and scrambled eggs on toast, we’ve got tasty little meals covered 😋 Plus, every kids meal comes with a drink included! 🧃

Love great coffee and homemade treats? ☕🍰

Pop into The McIntyre Centre and try our brand new coffee machine, now serving freshly ground local coffee. Whether you’re stopping by for breakfast, lunch or a sweet treat, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Enjoy a breakfast bun and hot drink for just £6, available anytime, or join us every Thursday and Saturday for coffee and cake for only £6.

We’ve also introduced brand new homemade cakes alongside a delicious menu packed with freshly prepared dishes from breakfast through to lunch, making it the perfect spot for catching up with friends or enjoying a relaxed lunch date.

What was once the historic McIntyre leather goods store has now been given a new lease of life as The McIntyre Centre — a welcoming multi-purpose venue in the heart of Bishop Auckland.

The building is now home to adult learning classroom spaces, a café staffed by students from Bishop Auckland College and retail space supporting local businesses.

We’re proud to be part of the ongoing regeneration of Bishop Auckland and to provide a space that supports learning, skills development, businesses and the wider community.

Are you a foodie? 🍞🍫

Why not try something new with our introductory courses and build your skills in the kitchen…

Healthy Eating & Sourdough Making:
Learn the basics of healthy eating alongside the art of sourdough. You’ll explore how fermentation supports gut health, understand the benefits of wholegrains, and prepare and bake your own sourdough products in a safe, supportive environment.

Introduction to Chocolate Making:
Get hands-on with chocolate and learn how to temper, mould and decorate your own creations. You’ll make filled chocolates, experiment with flavours, and present your finished products to a professional standard.

Both courses are just £25, or free if you’re in receipt of a means-tested benefit or earning under £30,000 a year.
